SPCA of Western Quebec
Who We AreThe SPCA of Western Quebec is a no-kill animal shelter located at 659 Auguste-Mondoux, in the Aylmer sector of the city of Gatineau, QC, serving the region for over 25 years. We accept animals which can no longer be kept by their owner, as well as those who have no current home of their own.
The SPCA of Western Quebec receives no public/government funding and relies solely on adoption fees and donations to cover all costs incurred in operating the shelter, and providing all of the necessities to our animals.
If you would like to assist us by making a donation, simply make your cheque payable to the SPCA of Western Quebec and mail it to our address below, or you may donate directly on our website at www.aylmer-hull-spca.qc.ca. A tax receipt will be provided for all donations exceeding $10.00, and all funds received go directly to care for our animals.
Our AnimalsAll of our animals receive an examination by our veterinarian before entering the quarantine period of their stay with us. While visiting with the vet, vaccinations are brought up to date (if necessary), and any ailments found upon exam are prescribed the necessary treatment(s).
Prior to the end of their quarantine, our animals are sent to be spayed and neutered, after which time they can be made available for adoption. Those puppies and kittens who are too young for this surgery are adopted with a valid spay/neuter voucher as part of the adoption contract.
Additionally, all dogs receive microchips implanted before their departure to their adoptive homes (for cats, this can be provided for a small fee). In the case of both dogs and cats, initial deworming and flea treatment is also provided during their stay in the shelter.
Our Adoption ProgramIn order to help you choose the "perfect match", you will be required to complete a questionnaire telling us about yourself: your home, any experience you have with pets, etc.. This is an important part of the decision-making process.
When you adopt an animal from the SPCA of Western Quebec, you must fulfill certain conditions as stipulated in the adoption agreement you signed. These conditions include a one-week health guarantee, a mandatory spay/neuter clause, and information regarding adjustment to a new home. These conditions and your responsibilities will be explained at the time of adoption.
As our adoption fees do vary depending on the animal, please contact us at (819) 770-7722 or e-mail at email@example.com if you have an inquiry regarding a particular animal, and we can advise you of the applicable adoption fee for him or her. Thank you.
