IN NEED OF A HOME
My story is pretty typical around here. My sister and I were thrown away on a highway and fortunately rescuers found us in the middle of the highway and saved us. I'm a funny little guy with short legs, wavy long hair - they say I look like a mini retriever. I'm hoping that there is a family out there for me, I have lots of love to give, very playful, love other dogs and have a will to live. I've been all vetted and ready for that family.
It's been thirteen years that a hand full of volunteers that make up the team of Second Chance Animal Rescue rescued our first animal. Every one of us has a vast array of responsibilities that tend to change daily based on our most urgent need. One thing goes without saying....we could not do what we do without the help of our stateside support teams who have held strong during the face of adversity and have shared in our excitement when the perfect home is found for a long awaiting Sato. We've all shared tears, emptied our wallets and have celebrated our unified efforts....we are a team.
Second Chance starts and ends with one woman...Bonnie Lukas. She is the guts of what keeps us moving. It's her passion to see strength and fight in the lives of a dog left for dead on the street and a willingness to do whatever it takes to help them sets her apart from so many others. It's this passion that that has earned her a strong following and a reputation on island for being a loyal team player...someone who will never turn a blind eye.
Making it thirteen years is a huge milestone for us and with every rescue, we carry a huge financial burden to return them to good health. We have Pay Pal on our donations page or checks can be written to Second Chance Animal Rescue with a confirmation of donation available following each act of kindness.
A typical rescue includes a trip to the veterinarian for a complete health check-up which includes vaccinations, worming, heartworm check and spay or neuter. If there is a more serious condition we go the extra mile.
We rehabilitate the physically and emotionally distressed soul. Then we find a good home that meets the requirements of Second Chance Animal Rescue both within Puerto Rico and in the states. Through our best efforts we address all medical needs of each rescue however, we simply can't treat what we don't see and thus cannot assume any financial responsibility for the rescue once it has left our care. The adopter must therefore assume all medical needs and liability at the time of adoption. Thank you for your support!
Adopting a Friend
To adopt a rescue from us please go to our website www.scarpr.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org
By requesting information on an animal and initiating the screening process, it is not a guarantee that the particular animal that you have inquired about is yours to adopt. This is only the first stage of the adoption process. Second Chance does not place our animals on a "first come, first served" basis, but does adopt to the best home possible for the animal. Generally, our mission is to find the right match for you and the rescue so that all parties can live happily ever after!
Our rescues are ready for adoption from head to toe. We must ask for a minimum donation of $375 unless otherwise noted to cover their medical expenses, rehabilitation and transportation off of the island. We hope that you'll be inspired by our fight to given them a better life and we thank you in advance for your support.
