Our Mission

POLICIES OF PHILLY RAT RESCUE:

If you need to surrender rats to us, they become our property to adopt out or permanently home if they cannot be adopted. We do not return rats to you once they have been surrendered, so please be sure you definitely want to give them up before contacting us.

We do not have transportation or a pick-up service most of the time. If you have a rat or rats to surrender, they must be brought to one of our 4 foster homes in Northeast Philadelphia (2), Delaware County, PA, or Bucks County, PA (we no longer have a foster home in NJ).

Because we use our own personal funds and supplies to care for the rats we receive, depending on the generosity of outside donors usually only for our veterinary bills, we can often use donations of Oxbow and Labdiet rat food, as well as cages.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADOPT, PLEASE EMAIL US FOR AN EMAIL ADOPTION APPLICATION: prradopt@gmail.com

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FEMALE RATS WE RECEIVE ARE PUT ON PREGNANCY WATCH FOR 25 DAYS BEFORE BEING LISTED FOR ADOPTION, TO BE SURE THEY'RE NOT PREGNANT.

ADDITIONALLY, ALL RATS OF EITHER SEX ARE PUT IN QUARANTINE FOR 2 WEEKS BEFORE BEING LISTED FOR ADOPTION TO BE SURE THEY'RE NOT SICK.

Adoption Policy

Adoption donation: $15.00 for solo rats, $25.00 for a pair. $10.00 for each additional rat after 2 being adopted at the same time to a maximum of $35.00.

If you are a new adopter, you must live within 50 miles of Philadelphia, PA.

Rats are adopted out as personal pets only.

You must be 21 and older to adopt from us.

We do not adopt single rats out unless they are rats that do not get along with other rats, such as an alpha male. Rats need the companionship of another rat or rats for optimal emotional and mental health.
