Adopting A Friend
Pine Valley Shih Tzu Rescue does not adopt to homes that have existing, or plan to install, electric fences. Please do not fill out an application if you have an electric fence.
ADOPTION PROCESS
Step 1: Fill out an Adoption Application
Be sure to answer all questions.
Step 2: Review of Your Application
Someone from the Pine Valley Shih Tzu Rescue Applications Committee will review your application to determine if it should move on to the next step. Since our goal is to find the perfect safe and happy forever home for every animal, we appreciate your understanding should you be eliminated as an adoption candidate.
Step 3: Veterinary Reference Check
Pine Valley Shih Tzu Rescue will verify your vet history as listed on your application to ensure that your current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered (we will not place one of our dogs in a home where there is another intact animal). If you do not have a pet, we will verify that the vet you have selected exists.
Step 4: Phone or Email Interview
A volunteer will contact you directly to conduct a phone interview consisting of questions about you, your family, your home and other scenarios to determine a suitable match for your home. This process can take as much as two to three weeks but also can be completed in less time in some cases.
Step 5: Home Visit
The final step of the approval process is a home visit. A home visit is when a volunteer comes to your home to determine if it is safe and acceptable for the animal you wish to adopt. A representative from Pine Valley Shih Tzu Rescue will arrange the home visit at the convenience of all parties involved.
Step 6: Adopt
Once this process is completed and all requirements are met, the adoption can proceed.

We are always searching for foster homes where we may place our rescues until they find permanent homes. If you would be interested in becoming a foster, please contact us at pvshihtzurescue@aol.com
Who We Are
We are a group of individuals that volunteer our time to help animals in need get a second chance at life. We are a small breed dog, no-kill rescue and operate out of our homes and foster homes. In addition to providing rescue efforts, we do work full-time jobs so please be patient with us. We will attempt to respond to all emails as quickly as possible.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs in need; dogs who have been abandoned, abused and neglected Our rescued dogs are cared for in our foster homes in which they will be loved, medically cared for an evaluated for placement in the correct home for the dog.

Want to make a meaningful difference in your life? There are fuzzy paws out there that need you. We are comprised of volunteers committed to rescue, rehab, and re-homing of small dogs.
Pine Valley Shih Tzu Rescue is in need of volunteers who have time and dedication to help fund raise, rescue, transport, pull from shelters and foster. Most of our foster dogs are less than 15 pounds. We are headquartered near Bucks County PA but our foster homes are in the tri-state area. Serious and dedicated only, you must be actively involved. An application is required before membership is approved.
