The Gateway Humane Society is dedicated to improving the lives of unwanted, lost or abandoned cats and dogs. We provide medical attention along with a safe, clean environment for the animals to live in until a loving person or family comes along to provide the pet a new home. Our shelter is a No-Kill shelter. Our motto: no matter how long, we will find you a home. The Gateway Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies on the good will and generosity of individuals and corporations to provide proper care for our pets. We believe in the prevention of cruelty to animals and reducing the over population of domestic animals by spaying and neutering pets. The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers are dedicated to the pets housed in our shelter 24/7.
Adoption fees for Dogs: Non Spay/Neuter - $65.00 plus $30.00 spay/neuter deposit refundable upon having the pet spay/neutered within 90 days of adoption. Spayed/Neutered - $125.00
Adoption fees for Cats: Non Spay/Neuter - $35.00 plus $30.00 spay/neuter deposit refundable upon having the pet spay/neutered within 90 days of adoption. Spayed/Neutered - $75.00
Senior to Senior Program (Dogs/Cats): Regular adoption fee does not apply to those animals designated as a part of the program. We simply ask that you provide a loving & patient retirement home in which to enjoy each others company. The cost: a donation of your choice.
All pets available for adoption have received immunization shots, worm & flea/tick treatment, dogs tested for heart-worm, cats tested for feline leukemia.
If you are adopting a new pet dog or puppy - we encourage you to bring along any existing dogs already in your home to be sure that they are compatible.
The animals that we adopt out are strictly indoor pets and meant to be a a part of the family. GHS will not allow any adoption where the animal is being kept outdoors. (IE: Barn cats or outside dogs kept on cable/chain living in dog house).
