We at Safehaven Foster are instituting a new program that we need your help with. As many of you know we are currently housing many senior dogs, they are considered unadoptable due to age or medical problems or a combination of both. We never euthanize a dog due to age or managable health problems however these senior are taking up much of our rescue resources for their care and feeding. We would like everyone to consider sponsoring a senior. For a small donation monthly you can help us make their last years safe and comfortable. Who We Are

Safehaven Foster Home is undergoing some MAJOR changes this coming year. First, our new name is Safehaven Small Breed Rescue Inc., and we are currently filing for our own non-profit status. Although we will still be fostering Pekingese dogs for PCF, we will be able to help dogs other than the Pekingese breed. We will remain NO-KILL and will have to limit the number of dogs we can help in any given year, but with the help of foster homes, many little lives can be saved. We are a different kind of rescue. We do not have a kennel building, nor are our dogs are not kept in crates. They must learn to live in a home environment, if they ever hope to be adopted. Many of the dogs are taught basic obedience, and any behavior problems are addressed prior to being put up for adoption.

Adopting a friend

1. Adoption application must be filled out and approved prior to visit or placement..
2. Verifiable Veterinary References are required. Many of our adoptees have come from puppy mills or have been neglected by their previous owners, without much veterinary care. We refuse to let this happen to them again!
3. We require at least one visit with the dog, prior to placement. This is to let the dog and new owner get aquainted in an enviroment that is comfortable for the dog. Exceptions can be made for those traveling a great distance to adopt.
4. We DO NOT ship or deliver. The adopted dog must be picked up at the foster home. This gives us an opportunity to discuss small details like allergies etc. with the new owners.

We do not have a set fee for all dogs. We ask for a donation to help defray the veterinary bills, shelter fees, etc.
