Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania Inc.

Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA (ARF) rescues pets from area public shelters that must euthanize when full. Pets receive veterinary care and live in a home with a foster family (or at our adoption center) until adopted - as long as that takes. We get to know pets well and can match you up with the right fit for your home and family. Please visit our website at www.arfsepa.com to learn more about ARF and the great work done by ARF volunteers each and every day. Make a difference in a pet's life - think rescue first!

Email us at info@arfsepa.com or at jla20@mac.com for directions and information. At ARF, we understand that you're busy and have a life outside of rescue. If you can only come to things once in a while that's okay, if you can come to multiple events, that's great too. Whatever time you have to give is welcomed and appreciated... even if it's just a little bit of your valuable time, you can make a difference!

Spay / Neuter and Trap-Neuter-Release Initiatives

ARF is committed to reducing the number of homeless pets in the community. We spay/neuter all pets adopted through ARF's foster care program. We also operate a trap-neuter-release program to help relocate feral cats to the safe environment of a barn home. As funds and time allow, we can also run spay/neuter clinics in the community, or refer you to a local low-cost spay/neuter clinic in your area. Please email us for more information or to see how you can help at info@arfsepa.com.

Who We Are

The Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania (ARF SEPA) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is solely dedicated to the welfare of companion pets here in southeastern Pennsylvania. ARF volunteers regularly patrol public shelters looking for adoptable pets that may be euthanized due to lack of kennel space. Once rescued, pets receive complete veterinary care (including spay/neuter) paid for by ARF, and pets stay with a foster family until adopted into a permanent forever home (as long as that takes). We will do whatever we can to help a pet and find that pet a forever home. For animals that are injured, we'll pay for surgery, like the $1200 ligament repair surgery for a wonderful basset hound named Norman. If a pet is sick, we'll pay for medications and vet care, like our pal Buddy, a bull terrier with the worst skin mange we have ever seen. If a pet has behavioral issues, we'll turn to our behavioral expert on call, Wendy Young of Progressive Dog Training in Media (thank you Wendy!). We are here to help homeless pets, it's that simple.

Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA is equally dedicated to low-cost spay/neuter programs, and we are teaming with The Spayed Club to bring a free mobile veterinary clinic directly to areas that need it most. We are looking for energetic, positive volunteers to help foster, assist in adoptions and educate the community - can you help? We have lots of new programs, including Lucy's Senior Pet Adoption Program, a Trap/Neuter/Release feral cat program, plus many more programs aimed at making a difference right here in our community. If you are interested in joining the Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA, please give us a call or send us an e-mail at the contact information included at the bottom of this page.

Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc. is a nonprofit organization incorporated in Pennsylvania. We are a 501(c)(3) public charity, denoted by the Internal Revenue Service. Please be patient with us in returning your phone calls and e-mails... we are all volunteers and work hard at rescue and running our organization. This is in addition to our jobs, families, pets and foster pets at our own homes. We usually get back to you within at least a day, if not just a few hours. Give us a call, send us an e-mail and we'll be back in touch soon.

Adopt - Donate - Volunteer: Think rescue first!

Adopting a friend

Why should you adopt from ARF? For just $100 for a cat, and $150 for a dog, you get a great pet that has lived in a home, has been checked by a vet, the spay/neuter is included, pets are microchipped, the pet has been tested and vaccinated (and in somecases nursed back to health)... Let's see a pet store or breeder match that! Plus, when you rescue, you are truly saving not just one life, but actually two. When a pet is adopted from ARF, we are then able to go back to a public shelter and rescue another pet to take the adopted pet's place. Since we solely focus on shelters that euthanize, you are truly saving lives when you rescue. That's priceless.

It's easy to adopt from ARF SEPA. If you see a pet you're interested in meeting, just send an e-mail to the contact listed in the pet profile (jla20@mac.com) and tell us a little bit about you. An ARF SEPA adoption counselor will be in touch with you soon after to discuss the process and send you an application. We always make our decisions based on what we feel is best for each pet's needs.

You must own your own home or have written permission from your landlord that you can have a pet(s) (no exceptions). Dogs must be indoor (and given access to a yard and/or leash walked), and cats must be indoor house cats only. Also, all canine adoptions require a pre-adoption visit to your home to ensure that you are just as good a fit for the dog as the dog is for you. Feline home visits are done on a case by case basis. The adoption donation is $150 for dogs (including puppies), and is $100 for cats (please note that if you adopt two cats together, the donation for the second cat's adoption is just $1). Pets are adopted directly from an ARF SEPA foster home, and each pet comes with a complete veterinary history, including vaccinations, testing and spay/neuter, all included in the adoption donation. Our adoption counselors will also provide pet personality information and will follow up with you post-adoption to ensure that both you and the pet are thriving. Thank you for thinking rescue first with ARF.
