As the new school year creeps closer and closer, your student is going to need some stress relief and what is more relaxing then the sound of a kitten's purr? We will be reducing adoption fees of our adult kitties (over a year old) as well as our kittens (3 months to a year old) to only a donation. This includes their spaying or neutering and all of their shots for a year.
If you're looking for a new feline friend, now is the time take a look at all of our wonderful cats.
JULY PET OF THE MONTH!
Come meet Chief. He is a 2 year old hound mix, who is looking for a home. Chief is already neutered and updated on all of his shots. He is a born athlete looking for an active, loving family to enjoy life with. His hi...gh spirits and wagging tail is sure to fill the void in any home in need of a new friend. Chief has been with us for to long, and as much as we love him here we would love to see him happy in a home even more, so in order to do this we will be reducing his adoption fee to only $75.00.
Our Adoption Process:
Adopting a new friend at the Elk County Humane Society is really very simple. All you have to do is come and visit us (if you live far away, give us a call first and we can take care of things over the phone). We'll give you a tour and you'll be able to meet all of our wonderful pets. Once you find the perfect puppy or kitty for you then we'll give you an adoption application which contains some questions for us, so we can get to know you better. After the application is complete, one of our staff members will do a quick vet check. Don't panic, new pet owners! If you don't have a vet yet, don't worry. All we ask is that you give us a few referances (non-family members are best) that can vouch for your ablility to take care of an animal for us in place of a veterinarian. After the paperwork is all done, then we'll be able to work out a fostering program for about a week, so that we can make sure everything will work out. If it does then you have a new best friend forever and we'll do the offical adoption. Easy, right?
Welcome to the Elk County Humane Society's Petfinder Site!
Let me tell you a bit about ourselves. We were formed in order to help the homeless animals of Elk County, Pennsylvania by a group of animal-lovers. At first, we operated without a building from about 2001 to 2007 with the help of foster homes until we were able to build our shelter in 2007. Even with our new building, we realized that a few things were missing; a puppy room, for example, so we had to continue to add on and improve as we learned and grew.
Now, we seek to improve the lives of homeless pets in any way we can, and we hope to continue to do so for many, many years to come. All of this has been made possible by the endless support of our community; be it by donations or our wonderful volunteers. We cannot thank you enough.
