After an unexpected medical leave, from rescue... we are back!! Saving one dog at a time!!
We are in need of volunteers and foster homes!! So if you are crazy enough to think living with a Sibe or Mal is fun and adventurous, please consider giving some of your time to our many homeless ones!!
Who We Are
Sled Dog Sanctuary is a family run Non Profit Corporation devoted to the care and welfare of unwanted and abandoned Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes. We consist entirely of volunteers. We provide foster care and medical treatment to these dogs while screening potential homes.
Our goal is to match these dogs with the “right” family, and place them into loving, forever homes. We strive to educate people about these wonderful, yet sometimes misunderstood breeds.
Adopting a friend
Before we adopt out our dogs we live with them for at least one month(yes, in our home). We expose them to different things they may encounter (cats, other dogs, children, car rides, crates, Vet exams and grooming, and of course those little irresistible bunnies and squirrels). We also begin some obedience training. --Continued Obedience Training is part of our contract!--
An Application MUST be filled out COMPLETELY. We require a Vet reference and at least 3 personal references. We also ask that you have a fenced in area/yard for playing, pottying, and excercising. Once the application has been reviewed, and the references have been contacted we then do a home visit and a one on one interview. We like to see where our four legged friends will be calling "home".
There is an adoption fee, and require that a contract be signed once an application has been approved and you have been matched with one of our "friends".
We will not just “go away” after a dog is placed!
