PA SHIH TZU RESCUE was created to complement our nationwide Shih Tzu Rescue group. Although we are located in PA our group has members throughout many states.
We are dedicated volunteers working to help displaced pets through fostering and adoption. We get dogs from a variety of situations including shelters, owner turn-ins and strays. We foster dogs in our home and therefore usually only have one or two dogs at a time. In this way we can give each one the TLC they need as they adjust to a new life through no fault of their own. After a thorough screening process which includes a home visit we place each dog in the home that we feel best matches their needs. Since we do a home visit, adoptions are limited to about an hour's drive from here. Please check mapquest or another search engine before inquiring. We DO NOT do long distance adoptions.
The first step to finding your next best friend is to fill out an application which is on our rescue website. We use a conscientious screening process to take care to place a dog in the best possible home. Our guidelines are in place to assure the safety and happiness of our dogs. We do not adopt to families with children under 8 years. After an application is approved and we feel we have a match we will arrange a time for you to meet the dog. The adoption fee ranges from $150 - $400 to help defray our medical costs and to support the rescue program. All dogs are neutered/spayed, have all shots updated, wormed if needed, groomed, micro chipped and anything else we see that needs to be done.
Rescue dogs usually have plenty of love, affection and most of all gratitude to give to you. They are often scared at first while they adjust to a new home but with plenty of unconditional love they will soon flourish and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have saved a life. Don't buy when others might die.
We have no shelter as we foster all dogs in homes so they are socialized in a home-like setting.
