Who We Are
Personalized Greyhounds, Inc. is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation providing Greyhound adoption services in the Harrisburg area, other parts of Central Pennsylvania, suburban Philadelphia, northern Maryland, and the eastern half of West Virginia. Our staff consists entirely of volunteers, dedicated to finding loving, qualified homes for former racing Greyhounds, and educating the public about the availability of these affectionate, gentle companions. Our volunteers also act as advisors for you after your adoption is complete. We firmly believe in follow-up calls both to you -- from your assigned advisor -- and hopefully from you, letting us know that all is going well with your new best friend. All fees and donations are used to cover expenses involved in readying the dogs for adoption.
Adopting a friend
Our individual adoption process begins when you submit an application to Personalized Greyhounds, Inc. We will discuss your needs and preferences with you:
Your color, age, and gender preference
Ages of children in the home
Any other pets in the home
How soon you would like to receive your dog
After we have confirmed your references, we will begin our search for your dog through our contacts at Greyhound racetracks throughout the U.S. When we have found the ideal dog for you, we will bring it to the Harrisburg area, and prepare him or her for your home.
