Like most shelters and rescues, Main Line Animal Rescue does adoptions in our local community. Generally this includes counties in and around the western suburbs of Philadelphia.
CAT and BUNNY ADOPTIONS Main Line Animal Rescue does adoptions to families with excellent vet references, for families who have previously had a pet, who are committed to providing an excellent life for the pet, and this includes yearly checkups with your veterinarian. We understand that some families have never had a pet, so will not have vet references, and take that in to consideration during the adoption process.

We require a fenced yard; traditional or underground (underground fence system must be professionally installed). The dog must be able to enter directly from a door in your home, no “dog runs” or "line systems". The yard does not need to be large, but it does need to be able to contain a dog within an appropriate space to exercise and relieve themselves. Dog doors are dangerous and are not approved.
We approve the following professionally installed underground fence systems: Invisible Fence and PA Pet Stop. They must be working properly and you must have a collar to fit the dog that you are adopting. Your flags must be up and you will need to have a working collar for every dog in your home before we will release a dog to you. Please contact the installer of your fence and have them check to make sure your fence system and collars are working. (WE DO NOT APPROVE ANY TYPE OF RADIO FENCE)
The Volunteers and Staff at MLAR acts as agents for each animal in our care and the comfort and safety of the animals is our primary concern

Main Line Animal Rescue specializes in the rescue and placement of companion animals. We never discriminate on the basis of health, age or breed. By involving and educating the community, Main Line Animal Rescue works to raise awareness of the issues related to animal welfare as well as realizing the benefits of adopting an animal in need. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before they are placed in carefully screened homes.
Main Line Animal Rescue is a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and believes strongly in the humane treatment of all animals.
We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit charitable organization supported by donations from generous people just like you.
Adoptions at Main Line Animal Rescue are done by volunteers, who have spent many hours getting to know the animals who are available for adoption. Because we must coordinate adoption visits with the volunteers who know the animals, we request that you first submit an application. When it is received, someone will call you to arrange a time that works for your family and the volunteer.
E-mails regarding adoption are not considered an application. Your application must be submitted to http://www.mlar.org/adopt/adoption-process
