The House Rabbit Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization with two primary goals: 1) to rescue rabbits
and 2) to educate the public.
The Southeastern PA-DE Chapter of the House Rabbit Society is located in Newport, Delaware. Shelter
hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call (302)

We do not take owner-surrendered rabbits unless they were originally adopted from the Southeastern PA-DE
HRS shelter. Please work with your local humane agency.
Adopting a friend
If you would like to provide a safe, loving, indoor home, the first step is filling out an adoption application. Email Theresa at Theresa.Mazzei@gmail.com or Joyce at yardkitty@msn.com to get an adoption application either electronically or by mail.
Each rabbit has been examined by our veterinarian, spayed/neutered, and litterbox trained.
The adoption fee for chapter members for a single rabbit is $60, a pair is $110 and a trio is $150. For non-members the fee for a single rabbit is $75. Pairs are $125. and trios $165. This includes a chapter membership as well as House Rabbit Handbook. All adoption fees are tax deductible.
Adoptions from us are a great deal - if you purchase a rabbit at a pet store or breeder, you'll pay $15 -$50 for a
rabbit that is not spayed or neutered. Spay/neuter is the single most important thing you can do for your bunny's
lifestyle and health. As a responsible rabbit owner, you will pay $100-$200 for a neuter and $150 to $300 for a spay
when you obtain these services outside our shelter.
Rescued rabbits not only cost less - you're giving a bunny a second chance!
