COMET
Poor Comet has a had a tough time during her short, one year of life. Despite life's slings and arrows, she remains a truly loving kitty. What a testament to her natural-born sweet disposition! She loves nothing more than to be held and cuddled.
We were called to rescue this beautiful black and white kitty when she got her front leg caught in an animal trap. Sadly, her leg needed to be amputated. But her surgery was a complete success, and she is able to get around just fine on three legs. As young as she is, she will not have any trouble adjusting to a 3-legged life. Her foster mom has rave reviews about her, and says she enjoys the company of other cats. Now, she just needs what she's been lacking from the start – a loving home. She is in foster care, nearly recovered from her leg surgery and spaying. But she can't stay there forever – her foster mom needs to make space for the next little patient we rescue, that will need her experienced and loving care. So, when you adopt Comet, you will be saving two cats; Comet and the next kitty to need to recover from life on the streets. Since Comet is in foster care, you will need to make an appointment to meet her. Either call Shirley at 724-448-5523 or 724-224-4517, or e-mail Kathy at kathy@butchsav.com.

Volunteers
Who We Are
We are a no-kill, non-profit shelter located in New Kensington, PA. Our shelter is always full of animals, many which are strays. Our shelter is a constant stream of activity. New animals are examined for possible problems, medical charts are checked and medication is administered, when needed. Cat cages and dog kennels are cleaned daily. From the time she shelter opens until it closes, there's a constant flurry of cleaning, feeding, exercising, cuddling, caring. Fresh food, water, litter boxes, and blankets are placed in each cage daily.
Since we depend on volunteers, our office hours are limited to:
Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Other times by appointment.
Adopting a friend
Our animals are adopted as inside pets only and not for breeding. Interviews, vet checks and landlord approval are required prior to adoptions. Our animals are cared for, but a cage is not the place for them to spend their lives. A warm and loving home is needed. Won't you give them a chance?
All dogs adopted from the shelter receive distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, and corona vaccines, and are wormed, spayed or neutered, and licensed for $90.00.
All cats come with a reusable carrier and are certified feline leukemia and AIDS negative, spayed or neutered, and wormed and receive distemper, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, chlamydia, and panleukopenia immunizations for an adoption fee of $60.00.
