Who We Are

The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has been providing care for homeless animals, as well as education for the community, since 1911. The organization is an open-admission shelter and receives no funding from government or other animal welfare groups and must rely on private donations and fundraising activities to support its mission. Each year, the shelter takes in and cares for thousands of animals.

How You Can Help

The Humane Society is always in need of donations for our homeless animals. Currently, the shelters are in need of the following donations: cat litter, hand sanitizer, paper towels, blankets/towels, bleach, laundry detergent, and much more. Please call us for a "wish list." Donations may be dropped off during normal shelter hours. HSHA is also always in need of volunteers!

Our shelter is located at 7790 Grayson Road, behind the Harrisburg Wal-Mart store. Our hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday 11am to 7pm; Saturday 11am to 4pm; Wednesday & Sunday Adoptions by Appointment Only.
