Adoption Application

If you wish to foster or surrender a pet, we will, upon your email request, send you the proper form. Please complete it ASAP and email it back (with the pet's picture, if you can scan the photo). If not, email the form and snail mail the pic to: Animal Rescue and Referral, PO Box 16, Richboro, Pa 18954. As soon as we get both the form and the pic , we will list your pet on our site. We request a donation fee of $20 to handle your case. This money covers an ad in a local paper ($15) and the rest goes to help homeless animals who need medical attention. This fee is non-refundable and is not a guarantee of placement. We are also not responsible for housing the pet in some facility if you can no longer hold onto the pet. Please let us know if you would like us to handle your case. Remember, we don't have a facility. If you need one in a hurry, please contact us at 215 322 9251 voicemail 2 and you will be referred to some no- kill shelters.

PLEASE IF YOU CAN'T ADOPT CONSIDER FOSTERING! BELOW ARE OUR MOST URGENT ANIMALS.

TASHA WILL BE EUTHANIZED SOON! We have been boarding Tasha for almost 2 months. If we cannot find a foster or forever home for her by the end of July, she will have to go back to her original owner who will unfortunately have her put down. It is very sad because Tasha is a sweet girl who thrives on companionship. She is a real beauty.. She should go to a home where there are no other pets . Older children would be best since she is very active and may throw a small child over with her exuberance. She is the type who would be very devoted and loyal to someone who would love and nurture her. PLEASE HELP TASHA!

_TASHA-is a victim of a divorce. She and her mother were uprooted from their home. Both were sent to a shelter . Mom got adopted and Tasha stayed about 1 month. She became cage- crazy and was due to be euthanized. We are boarding her ,unfortunately, because we have no foster to take her in until she gets adopted. She is a 6 y.o. Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is spayed and current on shots. She is very intelligent and sweet. She is strong and active so she should go to an adult home or one where there are teens. She is beautiful(pic will follow) and only wanted to kiss me. She rolls over on her back for a tummy rub. The boarding staff really love her. Please ,if you are interested in fostering Tasha or adopting her, contact Hope at 215 322 9251 voicemail 2. The boarding kennel is a caring place but if she is there too long, she will lose her spirit again and become cage-crazy. WE DON''T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!

To all Fellow American Animal Lovers. My Name is Gabriele Whipkey and my Husband and I are working with our Humane Society in Somerset, PA to find good homes for all our Animals. This case is very special that both dogs, Shadow and Eden should stay together. In 2005 Shadow was brought in to the Humane Society part of 14 dogs which where held by an Animal Collector. All Dogs were adopted and Shadow found a good friend in Brian, who was volunteering at the time at our Humane Society to walk dogs. Brian adopted Eden earlier and Shadow completed his family. Shadow and Eden are very close friends, but something is missing now. Brian had to leave for Iraq, and he had no choice but to surrender both Shadow and Eden to our Humane Society, in hope that both dogs can find a new family again together. Shadow (Chow mix) and Eden (Beagle, Collie mix) are both Adult Dogs, very well behaved, friendly and house trained. Both dogs love to ride in the car, will follow you everywhere and love long walks. Shadow and Eden are missing Brian and a comfortable home life very much, and we need someone who will care for both of them. Please, consider adopting Shadow and Eden together, both dogs have still so much love to give. There adoption Fee will be paid. Our Humane Society is a kill shelter and my plea goes out to all, please HELP You can read about Shadows and Eden's story on our website: www.somersetpets.com both dogs are featured on the front Page. If you have any questions please contact me via e-mail: whipkeygkey@wmconnect.com

URGENT: ANOTHER HOME IS NEEDED FOR SMOKEY!

URGENT: Smokey's very kind foster mom has continued to love and care for Smokey with all her heart but she and her family have to give her up. Smokey is very happy in this home but the family's cats are not. The cats are afraid of Smokey and won't come downstairs where they loved to roam before Smokey arrived. It is not fair for the cats to live this way. The situation hasn't gotten any better as time goes by.

Poor Smokey- She really is a great companion dog. She is an 11 yo going on 7, a shepherd/keeshond who is spayed and current on shots. She loves to play and is gentle and kind. She deserves to live out her golden years without cats but with a family who has given her as much love as her present foster family has. May be OK with dogs but NOT cats.

WON'T YOU PLEASE OPEN YOUR HEART AND HOME TO SMOKEY?

Urgent foster home needed for PETEY

My name is Petey. I am a 7 year old spaniel pit mix. I am neutered, current on shots and I am very well trained. I am a very good loving dog. I listen very well, I love all people and love to be petted and I give kisses. I get along with kids, cats and female dogs. I need a home with no male dogs - I do not like them. I am a medium sized dog with a big heart and lots of energy. I am looking for a new furever home because my Mom is a rescue worker and has other dogs and I do not get along with the males, so she feels it best that I go to a new home with a loving family that has no male dogs and can give me all the attention I need and like.

Animal Rescue And Referral wants you to be a part of our rescue family. We have lots of things that we can use help with, such as transporting, home checks, final adoptions, and answering phones. We also are in need of foster homes and people who can do fund raisers. All this helps us save animals lives.

Who We Are

Animal Rescue & Referral, Inc., founded in 1996, is a nonprofit organization of caring animal lovers who help find homes for unwanted or homeless dogs and cats. We also educate the public on animal-related topics, participate in spay/neuter programs, network with pure-breed and mixed-breed rescue groups, and provide advice and resources for pet owners. We also believe that education will help us battle the ever-growing problems of animal abuse, puppy mills and pet overpopulation.

A.R.R. has also established a feral cat rescue network. Statistics show that up to 19 million feral cats are living in America. These helpless cats risk being killed by automobiles or can die from starvation, disease, or even torture. It is our hope that by creating a network of caring individuals we will be able to humanely trap, transport, sterilize and provide veterinary care for these creatures.

If you would like to have your pet posted on this web site, fill out a surrender form. For further assistance or any questions you can email or call us. Should we find a good match, we will call you to make arrangements to meet with you and the prospective adopter. WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER. Animal Rescue & Referral, Inc. also networks with other humane groups, places pets in foster care, and boards them on occasion.

Owner Referral dogs have generally NOT been evaluated by ARR and information about these dogs comes directly from the owners. Many of these dogs are being given up because the owners do not have time for the animal, the prior owner has died, the owners are divorcing and moving to a place where they cannot take a pet, etc. We are providing a means for these owners to expose their dogs to a wider audience of potential adopters than would otherwise be available.

The Shelter Dogs

Another source of dogs available for adoption comes from referrals to area shelters. Many humane societies and SPCAs keep us apprised of the dogs at their facilities. These dogs are posted with the shelter phone number. Please call the shelter before visiting to ensure that the dog listed is still available and to check about hours, adoption procedures, etc. These adoptions do not involve ARR and all terms of adoption will be between you and the shelter.

Other Rescue Organizations

We also list dogs for other rescue organizations in the tri-state area. Because there are so many animals in need of a new home, many different rescue organizations exist in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. If we do not have a dog that matches a potential adopter's needs, or if that adopter is geographically more conveniently located to another rescue, we will refer the adopter to a volunteer with that group who can assist him or her in finding a dog. Dogs listed from other groups will have contact information for that group listed with the pets description.

Please remember though, this would be a different organization and anyone who chooses to adopt through a rescue other than ARR, would be required to follow and comply with that rescue's adoption procedures, including completing all of the necessary paperwork and payment of all applicable fees for that rescue.

Prospective adopters are screened to insure the success of their new pet adoption. The perfect adopter is one that is committed and humanely responsible. Veterinarian references are preferred but not always necessary. If you have lots of love to give, we want to talk to you!

ADOPTION FEES

Adoption fees will be discussed prior to the adoption process
WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN A 90 MILE RADIUS OF PHILADELPHIA.
