News

This is a desperate plea for help for some horribly abused and starving guinea pigs that have been rescued.

This past Friday, Cathy and Jeff Endlich of Western PA Cavy Rescue took in 65 horribly malnourished and deathly ill guinea pigs from an abuse situation. The heaviest one weighed 1.1 pounds. :-((( Many are, believe it or not, pregnant. Five have already died as of Monday afternoon and more will.

Apparently, an entire farm of animals have been cruelly abused and mistreated, leaving carcases of dead colts, horses, and cows all over the farm and prompting the reporting of the farm owners to the local animal control. These guinea pigs were found to be living in an open walk-in shed (the kind horses use to walk in and get out of the elements). They lived in metal watering troughs that large pigs normally DRINK out of. No bedding. No water. No food EXCEPT for some moldy dark hay. All freezing and huddled and living in their feces. sniff. They are all little skeletons and very very sick.

The Endlichs are in desperate need of help. They need money to pay for supplies and vet bills. We have opened an Oxbow account in the name of Western PA Cavy Rescue. Oxbow's number is 1-800-249-0366. Donations can be in the form of dollars, or orders of Critical Care, pellets, or hay (early first cutting).
