Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County, DRBC, was originally founded to help dachshunds in the Bucks County, PA area; however, our need and our ability to help stretches from Delaware to Southern New York. DRBC helps dachshunds regardless of age, color, size or medical difficulty.
All DRBC dogs receive a spay/neuter, all vaccinations, complete dentals, blood work, heartworm tests and urine panels before spending a minimum of 7 days in a qualified foster home for personality evaluation. Our dogs are seen by a specialist for our breed and are also evaluated for spinal soundness before placement.
DRBC charges $275 for all adults and $375 for puppies up to age 18 mos. All fees go towards medical expenses.
DRBC Transport Policy
DRBC is against long transports for our beloved breed. We will not ship a dog via air or ground freight and do not use such organizations as the Dachshund Underground Railroad to deliver an animal. The stress this type of experience has on a rescue doxie is considered unnecessary and in some cases harmful to the well being of an animal. All DRBC dogs will be placed within the driving distance of our adoption committee, limiting the range of our placement potential to the areas listed above.
Adopting a Friend
Our adoption process begins with your phone call or e-mail to us. We will take your initial application over the phone. Typically, an applicant can expect to spend many hours discussing and meeting with our rescue dogs as we attempt to find a best fit for both you and our rescue dog.
WARNING: DRBC does not work on a first come, first serve basis. We look to match the personality of the dog with that of the perspective owner. The happiness of our beloved breed is of the utmost importance to us.
As the application process continues you will be required to have a home check, vet check and visit with our rescues. No applicant is ever pressured to take any dog and no dog is ever pressured to leave with a family. Good matches must work for both you and your new family member!
Volunteering and Donations
DRBC is always looking for new volunteers. Help is needed with educational booths, setting up our web page, home checks, foster care, fund raising and our fall newsletter. Please call or drop us an e-mail at email@example.com.
Donations of food, money and blankets are always needed. All donated funds go to offset our medical bills. The food goes to our community support program known as Project Outreach. See our news above. Blankets help in foster care.
