"Making a difference in the world, one dog at a time!"
ATR is dedicated to ending senseless euthanizing of perfectly adoptable dogs and puppies. Over the last 15 years, the rescue has grown and tackled new challenges along the way. In 2004 ATR spent 2 weeks in Louisiania during Hurrican Katrina - bringing back nearly 40 dogs. SInce then we have recognized the great need for smaller shelters to receive rescue help. We are a mother/daughter team with a handfull of dedicated volunteers who make these dogs comfortable and happy while they are in the rescue program. Every dog you see on our website was facing death, had we not taken it, even puppies get euthanized when there is no where for them to go. Our work is endless, our days tiring - but our drive and dedication is what keeps these animals alive. When you adopt a dog or puppy from our organization you can be proud that you truly helped save a life.

Who We Are
We are a mom and daughter team with a small group of volunteers. We started out just rescueing Terriers 15 years ago, but do the volume of great mixed breed dogs alike being euthanized in shelter every day we have branched out to include all breeds and mixes as well. We have been rescueing dogs for 15 years and travel all over the United States to small area shelters that have extreme high kill rates or no avenues for adoption. Our dogs recently have come from Canada, Tacoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Georgia, Idaho and Nevada. We are a domestic Non Profit Rescue.
Adopting a friend
You can adopt a dog on our website by emailing the rescue - a volunteer will arrange a time to meet with you and bring the desired dog.
Emailing the rescue is the most effective way to contact us.
We are extremely strict on our return policy - if you adopt a dog from us you must agree in writting that the dog will be returned to us if you cannot keep him/her. Additionally we will only consider homes in which the dog will be an INDOOR-ONLY dog - even if the dog is not housetrained. No outdoor dog runs, tie outs or garage dogs. Most of our dogs require familes with no childeren under the age of 10. Some dogs require very special homes and we insist on the right to screen every adopter based on the needs of the individual dog.
