Our Pet List

We are an Animal Control Agency that provides; shelter to stray and unwanted animals; reunites pets with their owners; places suitable animals for adoption; enforces animal laws within Wasco County; administers dog licensing program; participates in local pet therapy programs; provides public education to groups and organizations; performs humane euthanasia. We strive to find lasting homes for each animal adopted and ensure suitable, humane environments for those animals through education and adoption screening process. All of the animals we care for at the shelter are here for a reason. Someone didn't want them. They may have tired of the pet or the pet may have undesirable habits. It is important to allow shelter staff to assist you in your selection. Working together we can find the right pet for you. You will be asked to fill out an adoption application at our facility, at which time we will conduct an interview. Once completed, shelter staff will review your application. Applications are processed as quickly as possible, but be prepared for at least a 24 hour waiting period. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and demonstrate the willingness, ability and commitment to provide that animal with a quality life and home. We strongly recommend that all members of the household meet the pet prior to adoption, including other pets. This helps avoid personality conflicts and the need to return the pet. Renters must have landlord approval. We require that all pets adopted be vaccinated, licensed and spayed/neutered. Selected pets are transported to area Veterinarians for spay/neuter surgery prior to placement. There are no exceptions. Pets will not be adopted as gifts for others. Animals will not be released for research of any kind. Applicants must be approved before placement of pet. Proper facilities and appropriate containment are required before placement. Fenced area may be required at our discretion. Home visits are common procedure. We have the right to deny the placement of any pet to those who may not provide an appropriate home.
