We Need Help

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! (over night, weekends, for a week, and longer) PLEASE EMAIL spotteddreams@comcast.net IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HELPING OR HAVE QUESTIONS. We are all volunteers, and the amount of Dalmatians that we can save is reflected on how many foster homes we have. Even a short term home can help save a life. We can provide (at no cost to you) a crate and food.

News

SpottedPaw's Founder is moving to Arizona :-( Because of this move SpottedPaw will now only be a resource. We can list Dalmatian's in need and those in private homes. But we will be unable to take in any dals. The Founder was a big part of this, taking in as many as 10 dals at a time. But sadly we do not have the foster homes to take up the slack. If you can be a foster home or know of someone that is interested please contact me. Even if it's for only a weekend, you could still save a life.

Who We Are

SpottedDreams, a non-profit organization, was founded in May 2003. Over 20 Dalmatians were rescued during the first year. Now we have saved over 40 or more Dalmatian. We Dont have foster homes and are always looking for more loving foster homes. We offer many servises: Foster Care, Adoptions, Referrals, Assisting with placing Dalmatians in need of new homes, and Behavior Modifications. We are not a shelter, all of our Dalmatians are in loving foster homes what little we have. We are always looking for good foster homes.

Adopting a friend

Is a Dalmatian the right breed for you? Dalmatians are indoor dogs that require a great deal of attention. They are very social and need to be in the company of their family. They are also very active and require daily exercise. A secure fenced area is essential and obedience training is recommended. They shed year round and require a strict diet throughout their lives. Dalmatians are a very intelligent, loyal, and loving breed and make excellent companions dogs for an active family.

Part of the Process

All Dalmatians are brought up to date on shots and neutered or spayed before being placed into new homes. Adoptions involve a home check, a veterinarian check, a personal introduction of the interested Dalmatian to the new family at their home, adoption contract and a minimum adoption donation. All donations are used for medical expenses for current and/or future rescued Dalmatians. We do not adopt to anyone who has a criminal record or that has had problems with their local law enforcement and/or animal control. As Dalmatians were bred to be a high-energy breed, a fenced yard is mandatory for SpottedDreams NW Dalmatian Rescue adoptions. Electric fencing is NOT considered an exception to a fenced yard. Renters need not apply. Adopters and inquiries must be over the age of eighteen ONLY please. Puppies (any dal under the age of 12 months) is required to be enrolled in an obedience class within 4 weeks of adoption. A copy of the enrollment must be sent to SpottedDreams Also proof of granduation must be sent within two weeks of completion. Failure to do so, may result in voiding the adoption. And because of the "need" and the "nature" of puppies, we do not adopt out Dalmatian Puppies (those under the age of 12 months) to families with kids under the age of eight. Some exceptions are made (to those families with Dalmatian experience, for example). We adopt to Oregon and Washington ONLY. If you are from a state that is out of our adoption area, we can assist you in finding a dalmatian or rescue group closer to you.

Want to help out?

Do you love Dalmatians? Or maybe you’d like to give one a "test-drive" to see if it’s the right breed for you. We’re looking for temporary foster homes to give love, attention and indoor housing to our wonderful rescues as we work to find them permanent "forever homes". We screen for temperament and health and can provide a crate and food—you just need to provide TLC and perhaps a little training. These are funny, playful, affectionate dogs that richly deserve a chance at the good life. If you are interested in spoiling one of these great pups please contact me. For info please contact Vickie at: spotteddreams@hotmail.com
