Curry County Animal Shelter
The Curry County Animal Shelter strives to be a low-kill shelter. Only animals too ill, aggressive or severely injured are euthanized. When over-crowding becomes a problem, volunteers take the dogs to the Medford Humane Society, giving them a larger population to draw from for their adoption. All those taken so far have found new families.

Look for the Doggie Thrift Store at 35095 Euchre Creek Road off of Hwy 101 at the Old Ophir School, the best prices on the coast for collectibles, books, and clothes. You name it, they have it. All proceeds go to help the spay and neuter program at the Shelter. It is open every Saturday, 10am-4pm. They can always use more volunteers so that they can stay open EVERY Saturday! ...
The shelter collects inkjet printer cartridges, pop cans and grocery receipts (Ray's Food Place, McKay's Market, Price N Pride, Shop Smart - all local stores of the county) mail or drop them off at the shelter, these all earn extra income to help with expenses (and they DO help!).
WHO ARE WE ?
The Curry County Animal Control and Shelter is the agency for all of Curry County for dog licensing and animal control and also the agency to care for all the unwanted dogs that are placed in the county shelter. The staff try very hard to find new and better homes for the animals that are received.
We offer with EACH adoption; a FREE doggie gift bag (GREAT COUPONS, ETC.)provided by Petfinder, a bag of FREE dog food offered by Science Diet Dog Foods, a certificate for a FREE spay or neutering at any of our local vets, provided by our Advisory Council, as well as a FREE pet exam at any local vet in Curry and Coos Counties. ALL THIS FOR $65.00!
You can license your dog with proof of Rabies immunization at our animal shelter, local vets, City Halls in Gold Beach, Brookings and Port Orford, and at Pampered Pooches in Port Orford. Remember, licensing your pet can assure his/her safe return to you should they become lost as well as helping support our community goal of responsible ownership...

WE RECEIVE 'NEW DOGS' EVERY DAY LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME AND FAMILY!
We are located in Gold Beach, Oregon at the mouth of the famous Rogue River. Gold Beach is located about 50 miles north of the California border on Hwy 101 on the beautiful Oregon Coast. The drive is well worth the trip; you'll enjoy the scenic trip along the beautiful Oregon Coast. Then you can ADOPT a new family member or just help the dogs out by taking one for a 'BEACH WALK'! We are open Monday thru Saturday 10am-3:30pm for your convenience. With limited staff, it's best to call ahead to be sure someone will be available to assist you.
