We are looking for the very best homes for our cats and kittens here at The Oregon Cat. Our cats are adopted to indoor only homes and we also have a no declawing policy that we enforce through home visits. Adopted kitties need to go home in a carrier, either your own or you may purchase one here at the adoption center. All cats are spayed or neutered before they leave our facility and will be up to date on shots. We spay and neuter our kittens at 8 weeks or 2 1/4 lbs. We ask that you come and get to know the cats here before you make a decision that will affect your life for many years. We are set up so you can visit and get to know a cat before you make a decision to take him/her or them home.
We are one of the first, if not the very first, "Adoption Fee Free" zones in the United States. We work on a donation only basis to help enable more cats to find permanent loving homes. This also encourages cat ownership for people who can not afford an adoption fee of $100 or more dollars for a cat. So, no adoption fee for any cat over 3lbs. every day of the year. Kittens under 3lbs are $120 to cover their medical and surgical care. When they reach three lbs, they go home with no adoption fee, too. Our fast turnover of cats, sometimes over thirty adoptions in a day means a shorter shelter stay for our cats meaning happier, healthier cats and space opening up quickly for other cats in need to be accepted into our program.. Our application criteria has become a little more stringent since starting this program, but we have the very best adopters giving these cats and kittens the very best life possible. You will need a govt issued photo ID to adopt.
