We are seeking volunteers to help our dogs & cats get adopted. We need assistance socializing & grooming the animals, maintaining a clean cattery and help with administrative work, such as photographing new animals and posting them on Petfinder. Who We Are
Adoptions are near and dear to the heart of Dogstar. Our founder, Theresa Shire is the former Adoption Center and Animal Care Supervisor for the Arizona Humane Society’s Campus for Compassion. Dogstar started its own pet rescue in the summer of 2009. We take pride in connecting pets with their “forever” homes. You can stop by Dogstar to see a number of our foster pets. Our kitties will be in the front window, trying to catch some rays. Our foster dogs are always up for a walk, so we invite you to grab a leash and take a stroll together!
Adopting a friend
When you are ready, adopting a pet is the responsible, caring thing to do. The rewards of pet ownership are great, but dogs and cats require time, money, and commitment. Our goal is to place the right animal with the right home – for life! Therefore, we encourage you to do the research before bringing a new pet home. Please visit our website and read through our pet adoption articles and Dogstar’s adoption process under our Forms section.
If you are interested in a particular pet, please complete our Foster/Adoption Application and return it to us as soon as possible. Upon approval of your application, you will take your new buddy home or have a weeklong foster-to-adopt trial.
