Blissful Acres Rescue Reserve
You provide your pets thoughtful care. Not all animals have such thoughtful owners. Here at Blissful Acres Rescue Reserve, we rescue abandoned, abused, and neglected large animals. BARR provides long term care & housing, with an added goal to educate the public about responsible animal stewardship. Will you partner with us to meet these goals?
Formed in 2004 by Linda Ayling and Ed Bartz, BARR is located on 10 acres just west of the Bend Municipal Airport. As of Spring 2008 we have 25 horses. (go to our web site to view all of our current residents). These critters consume over 5 tons of hay and more than 2,400 pounds of various grains . . . EACH MONTH.
Funding to provide safe haven for these previously neglected animals comes from private donations, board participation, grants, and fundraising activities. Yes, we need cash, volunteers, and board members.
BARR can offer you a long term partnership that will allow YOU to be involved with a project you can feel good about , one which fits into YOUR culture. Many programs and levels of giving are available. A mere $80 will sponsor a horse for a month (hay, grain, wormer, supplements & farrier).

Adopting a friend
Most of our horses can not be ridden because they have worked or played hard in their youth and have stiff joints that slow them down, yet they have heart and companionship that they share with everyone.
You just need to provide a good home with the proper care. We will answer your questions about the care and make suggestions with your special animal's issues. Some one from BARR will make visits to your facility to be sure the animal's care is going smoothly.
