***News***

We have just taken in a group of 10 fancy mice: 3 males and 7 females. All are very friendly and get along great in their same sex groups. These guys were given up because their owner purchased two mice but when the two became ten the owners didn't want to care for them any longer. The babies are 5 wks old but because all the mice were still being kept in one cage we are keeping the females on pregnancy watch to make sure none of them are pregnant. The males are ready for adoption now and if the females are not pregnant they will be available July 6. If you can give any of these adorable mice a great home please let us know. Pictures will be posted on our adoption page shortly. Thank you.

Exciting news!!!!!! We now carry Quality Cage chinchilla products (cages, wheels, nesting boxes, cage stands, etc.). After using these cages and accessories for several years for the chinchillas in our care, we have found them to be of high quality and outstanding value. The products are chinchilla safe and are made specifically for chinchillas. Quality Cage has allowed us to sell their products for the same great price you would pay at their outlet. Committed to Critters Rescue offers free delivery within Gresham, Troutdale, and Fairview on purchases of $100 or more. And, every purchase made helps support our rescue efforts!

You can check out what we carry for chinchillas at the Quality Cage site.

Who We Are

Committed to Critters is a volunteer-based rescue dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing chinchillas and hamsters. We take in animals that are unwanted, abused, neglected, abandoned, scheduled to be euthanized, or animals from over crowded shelters. On occasion, we may take in these other small animals in urgent situations and if room permits: gerbils, mice, betta fish, sugar gliders and hedgehogs. The animals are cared for until a new loving and forever home can be found.

Adopting or Surrendering a Friend

Adopting
To adopt an animal, you must be at least 21 years of age, live within a reasonable driving distance (within a 50 mile radius approx.) and be able to meet with us in person. A home visit before and after adoption as well as phone interviews may be required. Proof of a proper cage/tank is required before an animal can be released to its new home. **We do not ship any of our animals**. Each adopted animal will go to it's new home with a two-week supply of it's current food and care information. The adoption fee for a hamster, gerbil, or mouse is $5. The adoption fee for a chinchilla or hedgehog is $50 - 80, $100 for a sugar glider and $3 for a betta fish. All adoption fees go back to the rescues in the form of supplies (chew toys, litter, water bottles, food dishes, etc.) food, and medical care. To request an adoption application please send us an email.

Surrendering
There is not a surrender fee for surrendering your animal to us although we do ask that owner-surrendered animals come with their cage/tank, food, bedding and other supplies. If your pet's cage/tank cannot be provided, please explain why when contacting us by email.

We do not have a designated shelter, so the animals are all in foster homes. To make an appointment to see an animal that is up for adoption, your adoption application must first be approved. We will then arrange an appointment.
