Northwest Samoyed Rescue is a small group of individuals who assist in the placement and fostering of unwanted, neglected and abandoned Samoyeds.
We network with and receive assistance from other Samoyed rescue groups around the country. We also receive assistance from nonmember volunteers and our local breed club.
We work closely with many shelters and animal control agencies.
Our primary function is to make sure that Samoyed dogs are not being put to sleep for want of someone finding them a new home. We have limited space available to foster dogs so our first concern is for dogs that are in shelters and in danger of being put to death.
As well as taking in dogs from shelters and animal controls, we also take owner surrenders under certain circumstances.
Our final goal is to find loving, caring, permanent homes for these dogs, what we call their “forever home”. Because of this, we do screen applicants for these dogs and ask a lot of questions. Most Sams will bond very quickly with their new owners but some will take longer. We feel it is in everybody’s best interest for the new family and the dog to have lifestyles and personalities that work well together. This will help them to bond as quickly as possible.
