NFHS Adoption Price

Dogs receive a food aggression test prior to being placed for adoption. Information about the dog is collected by observation to make the best possible match between the potential adopter and the canine, for a successful and permanent placement.

$57.00

Included

Health Check: all animals receive a routine health check by our Veterinary technical staff prior to adoption.

$62.00

Included

All puppies and kittens receive medication for internal parasites. When a cat or dog is suspected of having other parasites, a stool sample is taken, examined under the microscope and if positive, they are treated.

$20 - $60

Included

Ear mites are common in cats:  if signs of ear mites are present, ears are swabbed and then examined under the microscope. If the swab is positive for ear mites, they are treated.

$45.00

Included

All cats and dogs are treated if they have fleas.

$30 - $60

Included

All animals, whether healthy, sick or incubating a disease, are received at the NFHS.  Therefore, we often have cases of Upper Respiratory Infection in cats, a common and extremely contagious cat cold. For this reason many cats must be quarantined in a treatment room for 2-3 weeks, often with medication and a specialized diet.

$50.00/daily!

Included

The first vaccination is given and if the animal is within our system for any extended period of time, they will receive a booster (2nd vaccination).

$57.00 each

Included

All cats and dogs are implanted with a microchip (a permanent form of identification) prior to being adopted.

$60.70

Included

Most cats and dogs adopted from the NFHS have already been sterilized.  (However, the occasional animal is not suitable for the surgery prior to adoption.  Therefore, it will be the responsibility of the new owner to have the animal sterilized within six weeks of the adoption or until puppy/kitten turns 6 months old, by a veterinarian of the adopter's choice.  When the sterilization is complete, proof of sterilization can be brought to the NFHS for a $50 refund.)

Pet Adoption Procedure

On all adoptions you will be required to complete an adoption questionnaire and sign an adoption agreement (click here) . When adopting a dog you will be required to spend at least 20 minutes with the dog. You will be required to have all family members do the same. This is done to make sure that the dog is a great addition to your family and that everyone is comfortable with the dog. It is our duty to make sure that the pet you are adopting is the best choice for you and the dog. For example, someone with very little time to walk the dog should not be adopting a Husky.

If you are renting we will contact your landlord for approval so please bring their contact numbers with you.
