- Permanent homes for our adoptable pets!

- Medical supplies: ie: Q-tips, rubbing alcohol, antibiotic ointment(animal friendly), Ear wash etc.
- Canned dog and cat food
- Cat litter (clay litter, please no clumping!)
- Durable toys for dogs (Kongs, tennis balls, etc.)
- Painting/repair supplies (paint brushes, paint, tools, etc,) As we are all trying to spruce up the place (staff and volunteers).
- Volunteers who are able to come in once a week to walk dogs, or help us out with morning cleaning!!!
- Volunteers willing to sit on the fundraising committee and willing to take part in organizing and participating in various fundraisers - contact Sarah Lennox at the shelter for more info!
- Monetary donations as the shelter is very low on funding this year!
This list is updated weekly in order to receive the items that we are in the most need of. Any and all donations are very much appreciated by all of the animals and the staff of the Northumberland Humane Society!
We do not operate animal control, nor do we take in stray animals. If you have lost or found an animal in the Northumberland area, please call the Shelter of Hope at 905-885-7808, which is located on Theater Rd., in Cobourg. If you are outside of this area, please call your local animal control or pound.
Once you've chosen to adopt one of our animals we will ask you to fill out an adoption form which will take 1-2 days to process, in which case you will either be approved or declined. When approved, the animal (if of age) will be sent to a vet in our area to be spayed or neutered. After the animal has recovered, you will be called to come and pick him/her up. The prices of our animals are as follows:
Kittens - $50.00 for 8 weeks to 3 months $70.00 for 4 months to 7 months (rabies vaccination included) The $50 fee includes first vaccinations (except for rabies), de-worming, flea treatment and treats when available. $25.00 will be refunded to you when you get the animal spayed/neutered!
Puppies - $125.00 This fee includes first vaccinations (except for rabies), de-worming, flea treatment, treats and a bath if needed. $25.00 will be refunded to you when you get the puppy spayed/neutered.
Cats - $60.00 This fee includes the cat being spayed/neutered, first vaccinations, rabies vaccinations, flea treatment, de-worming, nail trim, treats and toys when available.
Dogs - $175.00 This fee includes the dog being spayed/neutered, the first vaccinations, rabies vaccinations, flea treatment, de-worming, a bath if necessary and treats!
All of our featured pets are $25 off of the adoption price and all of our senior pets (over 7 years) that have already been spayed/neutered have significantly lower adoption fees!! Please contact the shelter for more information!
