Who We Are

Mission Statement

To Promote the Welfare of All Animals and Prevent Cruelty and Suffering.

What we do:

Lost and Found: The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) helps reunite over 500 pets with their owners each year.

Adoptions: Over 640 animals are placed in new, loving homes each year.

Sheltering: GHS cares for over 2500 pets each year, providing food, shelter, veterinary attention and loving care.

Stray Cats: The Society receives no subsidy for housing more than 1200 stray cats from Wellington County.

Spay/Neuter Program: All adoption animals are spayed or neutered before going to a new home.

Identification Tags: Over 5000 City of Guelph dog tags are issued by GHS and in Guelph pet food stores. If you have lost a pet, check with us right away. We have many animals coming in everyday, one of them could be yours!

Wildlife Care and Advice: In addition to providing public education, the shelter provides care for close to 900 injured or orphaned wild animals each year.

Cruelty Investigations: The GHS investigates situations of suspected abuse. If you have witnessed or are aware of any cases of animal abuse, please contact the shelter.

Humane Education: 17,000 children per year receive Humane Education visits in the classroom. Kids ages 8 through 13 can also participate in the Junior Humane Club to learn about animals
