Our vet bills have increased dramatically recently and adoption fees can only cover part of those costs ... Blue Moon is a private non-profit group and receives no public funding. Please consider donating to help us care for our wonderful dogs and find them the forever homes they need. Any amount, great or small, is greatly appreciated.
WE ALSO NEED DOG CARE ITEMS:
* Food and treats: good quality dry adult food and treats
* Toys and chews: Kongs, Nylabones or other durables
* Bedding: used blankets, comforters, bath rugs with non-skid backing, dog beds

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS
Even if you cannot foster a dog, your assistance is still invaluable ! We need volunteers to help .....
... get foster dogs out in public places with our little "Adopt Me" vest where they can be seen by potential adopters, like PetSmart or dog parks
... with obedience training of our foster dogs
... post our "Available dogs" poster on bulletin boards in various spots such as vet clinics, dog parks, pet or other stores. The poster can be emailed to you to print out and post

WHO WE ARE
We are a small non profit rescue group located between Ottawa, Cornwall and Montreal, Canada, modestly hoping to contribute in three main areas of pet ownership education and rescue:
1. Helping Catahoula Leopard Dogs, Catahoula mixes or large dogs of any breed abandoned in kill shelters… Catahoulas mostly come to us from the USA, but Canadian ones are starting to show up now and then too. We foster dogs, and also help out with the rescue and transport to safe haven for other serious rescue groups.
2. Helping all needy animals in our part of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. We hope to maintain a few foster homes in the area in order to assist with the rescue and placement of more animals … eventually cats too if possible. Please contact us for a chat if you are interested in helping our community!
3. Helping other needy dogs just about anywhere in Ontario and Quebec... or further afield … if transport can be arranged and there is a spot available, we know no boundaries…!!!

ADOPTING A DOG
Adopting an animal is an important commitment, we are looking for truly forever homes for our pets. The adoption process involves filling out an application, vet and other reference checks, a thorough interview and a home visit. Our aim is to provide the very best match possible for you and for our pets. Please contact us for details!
All our adoptable dogs and cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, on parasite prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. We commit to our dogs for life and our qualified trainer can help resolve many problems that come up after adoption, or refer you to a more specialized trainer if needed.
We can occasionally accept long distance adoptions as we belong to a network of serious and ethical rescuers who can assist each other with applications and transport to almost anywhere.

Qui nous sommes
Nous sommes un petit organisme de secours animal sans but lucratif, situé entre Ottawa, Cornwall et Montréal, qui souhaite contribuer modestement dans trois domaines d’éducation publique et de secours animal:
1. Secourir les Catahoulas, les mélanges de Catahoula ou les gros chiens de toute race condamnés à mort dans des fourrières … Les Catahoulas proviennent surtout des É-U, mais nous commençons aussi à voir des sujets canadiens. Nous offrons des foyers d’accueil, et nous aidons au secours et au transport pour d’autres groupes de secours sérieux.
2. Aider tous les animaux de notre coin de l'Est de l'Ontario et de l'Ouest du Québec. Nous espérons maintenir quelques foyers d’accueil dans la région afin de permetter le secours et l’adoption de plus d’animaux …éventuellement de chats aussi. SVP communiquez avec nous pour un brin de jasette si vous désirez aider votre communauté!
3. Aider d’autres chiens situés à peu près n’importe où en Ontario ou au Québec… et même plus loin … si le transport peut être organisé et que nous avons une place disponible, nous ne connaissons aucun frontière…!!!

Comment adopter nos animaux?
L’adoption d’un animal représente un engagement important, nous recherchons des foyers réellement permanents. Le processus d’adoption comporte une demande à remplir, des vérifications de références vétérinaires et autres, une entrevue et une visite à domicile. Notre objectif est de trouver le meilleur “mariage” possible pour votre famille ainsi que pour nos chiens et chats. SVP écrivez-nous pour tout détail!
Nos animaux reçoivent tous les soins vétérinaires nécessaires, sont stérilisés, reçoivent de la prévention parasitaire, and sont munis d'une micropuce avant d'être adoptés.
Nous pouvons parfois accepter des adoptions à distance car nous appartenons à un réseau d’organismes de secours sérieux, aux pratiques éthiques, dont les membres s’entraident au niveau des candidats en adoption et du transport vers… presque partout!
Cherchez-vous un défi valorisant? Offrez votre foyer à un chien ou un chat en danger!
Nous sommes toujours à la recherche de foyers d’accueil temporaires pour nous permettre de sauver des Catahoulas, des mélanges de Catahoula, ainsi que des chiens d’autres races et des chats. Si vous aimeriez sauver la vie d’un animal sans vous engager à long terme ni payer les factures de soins vétérinaires, cette option peut vous convenir!
