Many more wonderful dogs are waiting to be rescued and are in need of loving foster homes in the Hamilton area, to help care for them while they wait for their permanent new homes.

Most of the dogs that come into our care are medium to large and often they have no background information and must be assessed prior to adoption. As a foster parent you help us assess the pet in regard to such things as current health issues, training needed and general personality quirks.

Saving the life of a dog is not always easy but it is a very rewarding experience and something that can be shared with the whole family. Giving the gift of love to a dog in need can be an excellent way to help children learn that giving of themselves is the most cherished gift of all.

Who Is 4 Love of Canines?

We are a dedicated group of fellow rescuers that have been saving lives and providing quality foster care, rehabilitating and re-homing stray and owner surrendered companion animals for over 25 years.

Our mission is to cater to the best interests of canine companions while maintaining the highest quality of service to both pet owners and adopters.

While our primary concern is for dogs, we do attempt to aid any companion animal in need.

Adopting a Friend

If you are interested in becoming a potential adopter, please visit our Adoptable Pets page to submit an application. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis choosing instead to match each pet with the most suitable home to ensure that both the pet and the adoptive family have a positive and successful integration.

All of the pets are in foster homes and are viewed by invitation only to approved adopters.

Finding Your Friend a New Home

If you are in a position of needing a new home for a beloved pet then you already know that it can be one of the hardest things a person is asked to do in life. Please note that owner surrendered pets are accepted as space permits and must be assessed prior to being placed in foster care. 4 Love of Canines reserves the right to refuse any pet it deems unadoptable.

Donation Information

We gratefully accept donations of any kind including cleaning supplies, old towels and sheets, or dog supplies including food, gently used leashes and collars, and baby items such as gates, playpens and used toys.

We also accept monetary donations made directly to the rescue or in the form of payments made directly to our veterinarian to help cover medical costs.
