Who We Are

North Toronto Cat Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run registered charity genuinely concerned with the welfare of all cats and kittens. We rescue, transport, foster, adopt out and provide veterinary care for homeless, abandoned and surrendered felines. Not having our own facility or shelter at this time, we often rely on caring foster homes to give them the TLC and comfort so necessary until we find them loving, permanent homes. And yes, we do have many happy endings!

Our Mission

There are many unwanted cats and kittens abandoned, alone, starving, frightened, pregnant and often sick and left to die, or, if lucky, survive as best they can on the street.

North Toronto Cat Rescue helps these souls in need wherever we find them, offering love, nourishment, safety, medical care and the hope of a wonderful permanent home for each and every one of them.

North Toronto Cat Rescue believes that all cats and kittens have value and deserve the chance to live. With our determination and your support, we try very hard to make that chance a reality.

Please consider fostering, adopting or donating inorder that we can continue our strong commitment to them.

Free Cat Medical Insurance from Petfinder

Cats adopted through Petfinder are now eligible for ShelterCare Pet Insurance! Petfinder has taken a bold step, a step to help us show our community that we are the best choice when it comes time to add a new pet to your family. Because we know that individuals in the community worry about the health of "shelter pets" and we also know that due to stress, prior neglect, and overpopulated living conditions, our pets may not always be the healthiest in town, we want to address that very realistic concern. That's why Petfinder.com has decided to pre-pay the first month of ShelterCare pet health insurance for each of your adopted cats. ShelterCare is a PetCare Pet Insurance Program that is specifically designed to cover these illnesses and accidents which may be common to homeless cats: kennel cough, intestinal parasites, urinary tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections, ear infections, sarcoptic and demodectic mange as well as foreign body ingestion removal, motor vehicle accidents, fractures & poison ingestion. An industry first, it can be a lifesaver as well, as it smoothes the pet's transition from street to family life and helps establish a foundation of responsible pet ownership. This very special gift is available to adopters exclusively through Petfinder.com member shelters and rescue groups.

New owners need to activate this within 10 days of the adoption. Petfinder.com has pre-paid for the policy, so adopters are not obligated to pay anything. You simply go on-line, or call, to activate the coverage which will continue for 30 days and then automatically stop unless you choose to either extend it or upgrade. Petfinder.com will be invoiced for the gift. We are very excited about this program. It will allow new pet owners to make decisions based on love, not finances, should a new pet become sick after adoption. And newly adopted pets will be perceived as a much lower financial and medical risk.
