Who We Are
The Grey Bruce Animal Shelter is an all-volunteer, unfunded organization. We rely on the generosity of the residents and business owners in the community who have generously given their time, funds and their product or service to make our fundraisers successful. We rely on volunteers who come out whatever the weather to spend precious time with the pets, cleaning their rooms, washing their blankets, serving their food and generally keeping the shelter in tip top condition. There never seems to be an end to pets needing help and we hope you will check our pages of pets for adoption - we have many dogs, cats, and other furry friends for you to see.
The Grey Bruce Animal Shelter, (formerly the Grey Bruce Humane Society), is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping displaced animals find new families. We do not euthanize animals and only accept strays under extreme circumstances (e.g., requires immediate medical attention). Most of our animals have come from loving households who can no longer care for them for various reasons. We are located just outside of Owen Sound, Ont. and always have many animals up for adoption. Adopting A friend
We ask that you come in to meet the animal you are interested in adopting before making any decisions. Please leave your phone number when inquiring about any pet. We ask that an application form be filled out prior to the adoption. Adoption fees vary from pet to pet, depending on the type of pet and how much veterinary care has been necessary. We try to recoupe our costs of spays, neuters and specialty surgeries because we are a completely unfunded, non-profit shelter. When multiple people request adoption of the same pet, priority will be given to the most suitable home. After all that is what we are all about. All of our pets have been vet checked and have a clean bill of health before leaving the shelter. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Joan at (519) 372-1911. If interested in adopting a certain pet, we would prefer a phone call as we are only able to check our emails on a periodic basis. Everyone here will be happy to assist you with any inquiries you may have. Someone is waiting right now for you to take them home!
Come Visit Us!
To get to the Shelter, take Grey Road 18 east off Hwy 6 at Rockford. Turn south on Concession 8 and go 3.2 km and look for a white building with blue trim on left-side of the road. Or follow Hwy 26 east from Owen Sound to Sideroad 11, continue south (Sideroad 11 turns into Concession 8 when south of Grey Road 18).
