Our Featured Pet... CHARLIE BROWN - I'M ADOPTED!!!!!
HELLO MY NAME IS CHARLIE BROWN!!! Let me tell you how I came to find myself here at the shelter. It all started last March when a man and his little boy found me sitting on a very cold rock in really bad shape. He didn't know what to do for me so he brought me to the shelter where my human friend Christie discovered that I was suffering from extreme frostbite to all of my paws and my nose. Oh the pain I was in but Christie and the others made me better right away. As much as I hated it they had to soak my paws and put cream on them and my nose. I must have looked foolish. Well its been almost a year that I have lived here and I love my humans for the love and care that they have given to me. I have been neutered and I am really playful. As much as I love my humans here and all my feline friends, I am really looking for a permanent home to share my tys and give my love to. We are currently housing 100 cats/kittens and 10 dogs in our facility. Our fundraising committee is busy getting things organized for our upcoming fundraisers.

We are always looking for volunteers to help out at our fundraisers. If you have some time to spare for the sake of our furry friends, please give the shelter a call and we will be glad to help you get in contact with the fundraising co-ordinator. Thank you to all for your ongoing support.
Who We Are
We are a 'NOT-FOR-PROFIT 'charitable organization and we are also a 'NO KILL' shelter. All of our animals stay here until they find the right home. We are funded by several fundraisers throughout the year, monetary donations, in-memoriums. Our shelter has 6 staff members, who care for the animals in-house.
We have a Board of Directors who over see the fundraising and daily operations of our shelter. There is always room for new faces, new ideas on the board. The Board meets every last Monday of the month at the shelter at 7 PM. If you are looking for something to do with your spare time, are a team player, love animals and have some great ideas to share, come on out to a meeting. Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to join us. * (date and location to be announced) *please call the shelter for directions if you are interested in attending
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting one of our pets then there are a few ways you can do this. You can come in to our shelter and fill out an adoption form or you may print one from our website and fax it or mail it to us. Our adoption process generally takes 24 hours to process but can sometimes take longer (we DO NOT do same day adoptions). If and when your application has been approved, then someone will contact you to let you know when you can come in and pick up your pet.
Our adoption fee for kittens that are not fixed is $145.00. This price includes $25.00 off your first vet visit (with one of our vets in Huntsville), $25.00 rebate once proof has been shown for spay/neuter (shelter will mail this to you), 10% off your first purchase at PetValu in Huntsville or Bracebridge. Our adoption fee for cats that are not fixed is $95.00, with a rebate of $45.00 once proof has been shown that they have been fixed. Our animals are needled, dewormed and Advantaged(flea treatment) they who need it are treated for ear mites as well. Our cats have been receiving Lysine-S everyday (this is a powdered vitamin supplement and we DO NOT send this home with the cats).
Our adoption fee for spayed/neutered cats is $50.00 (this price is until our population goes down then the price will go back up) which includes everything above except the $25.00 rebate.
Our adoption fee for a puppy/dog that is not fixed is $100.00 which includes all the same as non-fixed kittens/cats ($25.00 rebate once the puppy/dog has been fixed,again proof of this must be shown to be elegable) and our fee for our fixed dogs is $190.00.
Our prices may seem to be alot to some but if you consult a vet and price out having your animals vaccinated,dewormed, flea treated and spayed/neutered you will realize that our adoption fees are fair. Some pet stores and other shelters charge up to $300.00. So before you think of adopting, please do a little research for yourself as a piece of mind, then come and see us and we will be glad to assist you.
