WHO WE ARE

We are a 'NOT-FOR-PROFIT 'charitable organization and we are also a 'NO KILL' shelter. All of our animals stay here until they find the right home. We are funded by several fundraisers throughout the year, monetary donations, in-memoriums. Our shelter has 5 staff members, who care for the animals in-house. We have a Board of Directors who over see the fundraising and daily operations of our shelter. There is always room for new faces, new ideas on the board. The Board meets every last Monday of the month at the shelter at 7 PM. If you are looking for something to do with your spare time, are a team player, love animals and have some great ideas to share, email shelterchair@hotmail.com or if you just want to learn about volunteering with fundraisers, email paws@huntsvillepets.ca and someone will give you the information you are seeking. Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to contact us.

ADOPTING A FURRY FRIEND

If you are interested in adopting one of our pets then there are a few ways you can do this. You can come in to our shelter and fill out an adoption form or you may print one from our website and fax it or mail it to us. Our adoption process generally takes up to 1 week to process (we DO NOT do same day adoptions). If and when your application has been approved, then someone will contact you to let you know when you can come in and pick up your pet.
Our adoption fee for cats/kittens that are not fixed is $75.00. This price includes your first vet visit ,with one of our vets in Huntsville, *FREE*, $45.00 rebate once proof has been shown for spay/neuter (shelter will mail this to you), 15% off your first purchase at PetValu. Our animals are needled, dewormed and have had flea/tick treatment using Revolution. They who need it are treated for ear mites as well. Our cats have been receiving Lysine-S everyday (this is a powdered immune system booster).
Our adoption fee for spayed/neutered cats is $75.00 which includes everything above except the $45.00 rebate. Our adoption fee for a puppy/dog that is not fixed is $190.00 which includes all the same as non-fixed kittens/cats ($45.00 rebate once the puppy/dog has been fixed, again proof of this must be shown to be eligable) and our fee for our fixed dogs is $190.00.

***Our prices may seem to be alot to some but if you consult a vet and price out having your animals vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and spayed/neutered you will realize that our adoption fees are fair. Some pet stores and other shelters charge up to $300.00. So before you think of adopting, please do a little research for yourself as a piece of mind, then come and see us and we will be glad to assist you.*** (NOTE: The *FREE* vet visit is only good within the first week of adoption and the *FREE* part is the exam ONLY)
