After providing a much needed service for over 35 years to the Huntsville (Ontario) and surrounding communities, the Animal Shelter for Huntsville is discontinuing normal operations. These are challenging times for the Animal Shelter and people involved with and who care about animals by volunteering and donating. The Shelter receives no government funding and relies completely on the donations from the public and community fundraisers. Unfortunately the shelter is closing as there just isn't enough support from the community.

Our Featured Pets Jane Doe and her buddy Marmilade....GREAT NEWS ....WE BOTH HAVE BEEN ADOPTED TOGETHER THANK YOU!

This is Jane Doe with stunning turquois eyes. She is a 4-5 year old spayed female and our most photographed feline in the shelter. Her picture has been used for many brochures. She is a little shy at first, but loves to be petted. She loves to be with her buddy Marmilade, so they must go together as a pair. Jane and Marmilade need to trust someone that is gentle and kind. Will that be you? Marmilade is a spayed, DSH spayed female orange Tabby approx 3-4 year old. She is extremely shy and needs someone that will work with her. She needs to get usd to her surroundings. Marmilade is best friends with Jane Doe and needs to go to a forever home with Jane Doe. Fostering is a consideratin for both Jane Doe and Marmilade. Update: We now have 1 remaining cat...TAZ that needs a responsible owner. ***more info on our website www.animals-huntsville.on.ca*** .

The shelter is a registered non profit charity, providing a no kill facility with the focus on caring for abandoned cats and dogs. Key contibutions to the community by the Shelter were evident through daily services that it provided, those being: Sheltering abandoned/unclaimed pets until new permanent loving homes could be found for them. Reducing pet overpopulation through an effective spay/neuter programme. This has now all been discontinued. During these challenging financial times, the demands on the Shelter have increased significantly with more abandoned animals requiring care and a temporary home. Currently the Shelter is home to one remaining cat. These demands come at significant cost and have put a serious strain on the Shelter's financial resources; so much so that discontinuing normal operations is the only option we had. You can still see us on www.animals-huntsville.on.ca
