ARF is a group of dedicated, loving VOLUNTEERS that do not place animals in a shelter location - all animals are in family environment foster care. Therefore an initial saftey screening process is necessary - an online application must be submitted in order to start the interview process. Animals spend approx. one month with volunteer families that work with a positive reinforcment trainer ( www.awesomedogs.ca ) to begin housetraining, crate training, sits, recalls, and basic leash work. Our animals receive the best in medical care, high quality diet, and excellent socialization before they are placed up for adoption. A lot of wonderful work goes into each of these rescued creatures that we know deserve the best care for the rest of their lives. Our animals are all RURAL RESCUES - mid-extra large mixed breed, MUTTS that make wonderful companions for the dedicated and loving adopter. We look for adopters that are willing to embrace positive reinforcment training, understand that you cannot judge a book by its cover when adopting a MUTT, and will involve their companion in their everyday active lifestyles.

Adopting a friend

Adoption procedure : Foster Families reside in the London, ON area. The adoption process includes FOUR steps and may take many days to complete. A great match cannot be rushed and many people's schedules need to be taken into account while scheduling interviews. Before an appointment can be made to visit a family's home (1) an ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION must be submitted www.arfontario.com If the foster family would like to consider that application you will be replied to within 48 hours to schedule a (2)TELEPHONE INTERVIEW. A successful telephone interview will then be given the foster family's contact information and an (3) IN-PERSON INTERVIEW is then booked with the foster family to meet the animal. A successful in-person meeting would then result in a 24 hour waiting period for local adopters before (4) FINALIZING THE ADOPTION and taking your new wonderful companion home! PUPPY APPLICANTS OUT-OF-TOWN : please be prepared to provide your puppy training class of choice as positive reinforcment class enrollment is a mandatory requirment of any puppy adoption from ARF.
