Don't see the Jack for you?

We are getting new JRTs in almost daily, so if the friend you are looking for isn't here today, be sure to check back often too see who shows up next on Petfinder.

In fact, it's a good idea to fill out an adoption application right now so that you will be pre-approved when the right Jack for you becomes available. You can apply to adopt with our online form: http://onthree.wufoo.com/forms/m7x3p9

Foster homes desperately needed!

If you can open your home for a few short weeks (sometimes a few months) then you can save a Jack's life. We have more dogs than foster homes right now and have to turn dogs away... dogs that desperately need rescue. If you can help, please email foster@russellrescue.org or fill out an online foster application form: http://onthree.wufoo.com/forms/q7x3s5/

Adopting A Friend

An adoption fee of $300.00 for dogs over one year and $350.00 for puppies is required at the time of adoption.  Puppies who are too young to be spayed/neutered are placed with an additional $200 fee.  This fee is refunded to you when when JRTRO receives a copy of the spay/neuter certificate for your dog.

Senior dogs, age nine and over are available for a lower adoption fee of $95.

All dogs placed by us have vaccines up to date, spay/neuter, rabies and a general health check.  Should a dog have a medical issue that is diagnosed by our vet it will be treated and disclosed in the adoption process.

JRTRO places dogs in Ontario, Canada and on a few occasions, we’ve placed dogs in other provinces (provided the adoptee is able to come and meet the dog).  If you are in another province, you can find your province’s rescue contact on the JRTCC rescue page or if you are in the United States you can find your state’s rescue contact on the JRTCA rescue page.

If you think a Jack Russell Terrier is right for you, jump start the process by using our application form.

If you don’t feel comfortable filling out our application and have any specific questions about our adoption process, our available dogs or our application, please feel free to contact us at adoptions@russellrescue.org and we will do our best to get back to you within 72 hours.

Please ensure that all adults in the house are agreeable with the adoption of a Jack, that your children respect dogs and are all over the age of six.

Who We Are

Jack Russell Terrier Rescue Ontario (JRTRO) is a non-profit referral organization dedicated to fostering, finding and placing Jack Russell Terriers in new homes. These are Jack Russell Terriers that have either been abandoned, mistreated, abused or owner relinquished.

It is our mission to provide ongoing educational activities for the public about the Jack Russell Terrier, it’s temperament, characteristics and handling.

All Jack Russell Terriers are spayed or neutered, as required, prior to being placed in new homes. They are fostered at locations across Southern Ontario by volunteers until they can be placed in their forever homes.
