Speaking of Dogs is a Toronto-based three-armed organization which includes promoting and hosting dog-related seminars/workshops (we typically host three per year, winter, spring and fall), publishing The Province of Ontario Breed Specific and All Breed Rescue Directory and rescue.
Our rescue arm involves taking dogs, of any breed or breed mix, who need us (for a variety of reasons) from shelters across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. All dogs are examined by our veterinarian, have their medical needs attended to, are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Speaking of Dogs Rescue does not have a shelter facility. Each dog we take directly into our rescue programme
is home fostered, assessed and lovingly cared for until a suitable, well-matched
and devoted home can be found. Our small, yet dedicated and experienced group of volunteers, have worked in
animal shelters, veterinary clinics, rescue organizations and training
facilities and are committed to the welfare of dogs. We work collaboratively with several animal service agencies, other rescue
groups and the Scarborough/North York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals. Some of the dogs you will see listed may not be currently in the care
of Speaking of Dogs however, you will be directed via contact information to the
appropriate shelter or rescue group where the dog/s are being cared for,
fostered and/or sheltered. It is our goal to help end cruelty, abandonment, mistreatment and
homelessness of man's best friend. Adopting a friend
Our adoption applicants are carefully screened for suitability and compatibility as well as criteria related to care and commitment. After an initial interview, you will be asked to provide references and agree to a home check prior to the placement of a dog. An adoption contract must be signed and dated and an adoption fee is required.
We do reserve the right to deny an adoption applicant.
