We are in need of volunteers to work at our store! We need help with every day care of our cats. If you are interested please stop by the store, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
StreetCats, Inc is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to shelter cats that have been abandoned or lost and to find new homes for them. We are an organization that does not place a time limit on a healthy cat's life; we keep them until a home is found. Our cats come from a variety of situations. Sometimes relocation or a change in family structure forces someone to find a new home for his or her cat. Many times the situation is beyond their control, and the decision is a difficult one. We help by acting as a transition home for the cat until a new one can be found.
Other cats are actual strays with no owner. Perhaps they have been abandoned or have never had a home. These cats are often not spayed or neutered and add to a growing feral cat population. StreetCats has a feral/stray cat spay/neuter and release program called "A Stitch In Time". Monthly we are currently issuing about fifty $20 vouchers for spays, neuters, and rabies vaccinations for cats living on the streets. This program is made possible with the help of several local veterinary hospitals and is funded by donations.
StreetCats, Inc. is a registered non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation and all donations are tax deductible and eligible for most corporate Matching Gifts programs. These donations make it possible to reduce the large population of homeless cats in the Tulsa area. StreetCats, Inc. believes all cats deserve a home, and we will continue our efforts to make this possible.< /p>
Our StreetCats are housed in our Adoption Center at 60th & Sheridan behind Charlies Chicken, and fostered in volunteer's homes. The StreetCats Boutique & Adoption Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 - 5:00.
Each cat that is admitted into StreetCats has a comprehensive physical exam by a veterinarian. This "13-point" check evaluates coat & skin, eyes, ears, nose & throat, teeth & gums, legs & paws, heart, abdomen, lungs, intestinal tract, urinary tract, weight and diet evaluation. If any problems are found, they are treated before the kitty is put on our adoption list. In addition, the cats are tested for Feline Leukemia Virus and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). A stool sample is checked for intestinal parasites and the kitty is dewormed. A flea treatment (Revolution) is applied and vaccinations are given. After a cat has been evaluated and determined to be in good health then a spay/neuter is performed. Surgery is done in a sterile environment with constant monitoring during anesthesia and recovery by local veterinary clinics.
All of these services are valued at $300. This does not include any additional treatment if a medical problem is found! StreetCats is committed to adopting out healthy, loving cats for an affordable adoption fee. We rely on our donations to help cover the medical costs on our kitties. We want to provide the best care possible to these "cats in need." After all, they repay us many times over with lots of purrrrrs and unconditional love!
You really get your money's worth for a $75 adoption fee! For two kitties, the adoption fee is only $135. For persons 65 and older the adoption fee is $65 for one cat or $120 for two.
