VAW Fights Pet Overpopulation; Opens Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic

We’ve done it! We’ve opened the spay/neuter clinic. Our efforts have already prevented hundreds of unwanted cats and dogs from being born. We’re looking for that number to be in the thousands. The only way to put an end to overpopulation is by spaying and neutering.

The VAW SPOT (Stop Pet Overpopulation Today) Clinic services are geared toward the "working poor:" families who make less than $35,000 a year. These families may not qualify for free services, but can’t afford the full price of a spay/neuter at a veterinarian, so their pets often fall through the cracks and continue to contribute to pet overpopulation.

If you are interested in helping with the S.P.O.T. Clinic, please contact Tammy, Volunteer Coordinator, at 990-5561. It takes a lot of volunteers to make this happen every month! If you don’t have the time to volunteer and still want to be a part of this rewarding effort, please make a donation today. You may send your donation to VAW, P.O. Box 20061, Oklahoma City, OK 73156. Please write SPOT in the “for” section of your check made out to Volunteers for Animal Welfare. You may also call VAW’s office to make a donation via Mastercard or Visa at 405-842-6772.

MISSION - Volunteers for Animal Welfare, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to striving to make our state a better place for people and animals by promoting adoption of animals in shelters across our state, providing humane education and community information services, endeavoring to reduce animal overpopulation and to eliminate cruelty, serving as an advocate for animals and promoting humane standards, and enhancing relationship between animals and people.

Adopting a friend

Through petfinder's we offer to our members an opportunity to place rescued animals in appropriate environments. All adoptables must be current on their shots and be spayed or neutered. Each VAW member, personally, handles the adoption of the animal they have rescued. Please note the member's contact information as provided in the animal's description. We do not limit placement to certain breeds or categories.
