About Us
We are in the process of raising funds and planning for a bigger, better, more animal and community-friendly shelter. This shelter will service all of Murray County. If you would like to help, please check out some of our fundraiser campaigns. Please visit www.ronburns.com/walle to make a donation and receive a beautiful work of art at the same time! You can also visit www.wall-emakesscents.scentsy.us to purchase scentsy products for you or your loved ones with 20% of each purchase going to the Murray County Animal Shelter Fund. (Murray County DHS is also working with us to get scentsy buddies to all our children in foster care- What a great way to help our animals and put a smile on a child's face at the same time :) We have also just launched the "Paws for a Cause" campaign thanks to Debbie Sharp and DOAV (Davis Oklahoma Animal Volunteers) This campaign has three sponsorship levels: Friend of the Shelter ($1 - $499), Partner of the Shelter ($500- $999) and Champion of the Shelter ($1,000- and over) The name of EVERY donor will be PERMANENTLY displayed as part of the New Shelter building. 100% of every donation goes directly to the building of the New Murray County Animal Shelter. Donations are tax deductible. Checks can be made to DOAV and sent to 317 East Main Street, Davis, OK 73030. The animals thank you for your support and so do we :)
Currently the Sulphur Animal Shelter is actually a windowless shed with 10 cages. Multiple dogs are placed in each cage where they are given 3 days to be claimed and up to 10 days to be adopted. The “shelter” is located out of site behind a locked automatic gate and is inaccessible to the public without a phone call and appointment due to no staff aside from one animal control officer and just recently one part-time office staff. There are no signs to mark the location of the shelter and most residents are unaware of its existence making it very difficult to re-unite lost dogs with their owners or to adopt out the dogs and prevent them from being put down. If you would like to change this please send an email with your thoughts, recommendations and any contact information you are comfortable providing. (This will be used only for updates). You may also call Amanda Kloski at 580-622-6266 to voice your opinion and make a difference for both the dogs here and the city of Sulphur and it’s residents.
Our current holding facility is located off of N. 14th street. You will turn Left (west) between Kerr Pump and DT Self Storage. Follow road around to locked gate. Entry permitted with Animal Control Officer. Call Scott for an appointment at 580-618-3204.
