Our Featured Pet...

This page is in memory of my Sunshine doggy "Mel". I rescued "Mel" several yrs ago from a local shelter. They wanted to put him down because he was snappy with a kennel worker. They agreed to hold him the required period and then call me. The poor guy had foxtails (spiral weeds) deep inside his ears as well as polyps in both ears from years of neglect by his previous owner. He also had maggots on his head when he was brought into the shelter. In the years I had him, he required ear surgery, eye surgery, and most recently back surgery. He was my "genetic nightmare", but I didn't care. He gave so much love to me during his short stay with me. Due to a low immune system, God decided enough was enough and to bring him home over the Rainbow Bridge to play and stay healthy with my Buckwheat, whom I lost 20 years ago. "Mel" didn't bark much, he owwooooooed! He liked to "give five" with his big gorgeous paws. He had a look and a personality like no other. He gave so much to me and my family. He will be sorely missed. A piece of my heart will always be with him and will remind me never to stop Rescue, knowing there are wonderful Cocker Kids like him that need our help. Who We Are

Okie Dokie Cocker Spaniel Rescue was opened up to save/rehabilitate/rehome Cocker Spaniels, both American and English, of all ages. Most of our rescue dogs come from shelters before they are euthanized. We also take in owner-turn-ins on a space available basis, but priority IS given to shelter animals. We offer assistance to those who can no longer keep their Cocker by rehoming them in approved homes. We have foster homes in Edmond, McAlester, Tulsa, and Grove, Oklahoma. We hope to help the public better understand the Cocker Spaniel as a breed by educating them with regards to typical traits of their personalities as well as any potential health issues of the breed. Maintenance of the Cocker Spaniel is a necessity. They require grooming every 6-8 weeks as well as cleaning their ears to prevent any type of ear infection, easy to do, but necessary! All of our dogs are crate trained/doggy door trained/and housetrained (or mostly there) while they are in their foster homes. PLEASE NOTE: Housetrained means they know to go outside to do their busines and have a way outside when they need to do so!! We educate the public on the need for spay/neuter, helping to reduce/prevent unwanted pet overpopulation, and the negative aspects of buying from a backyard breeder/puppymill!

Adopting a friend

If you are interested in adopting a Cocker Spaniel, you may e-mail or call for further information on any of the dogs shown in our listing. If you are looking for a specific type (color/age/gender), you may complete an application which will be held in case one that fits your desires comes our way! All adoptions require completion of an application and a home visit prior to approval. Adoption fees range from $125-$225. We offer a reduced adoption fee for our Senior Wigglebutts and for Cocker Mixes. They deserve a chance at a furever home too! This is only a tip of the iceberg in helping to defray the costs of spay/neuter, shots, heartworm prevention (and treatment if needed), any adoption fees incurred at the shelter, any immediate medical needs, and general costs associated with taking care of the wigglebutts until we find them their "furever" home. ALL pets are spayed/neutered PRIOR to placement! ALL wigglebutts are microchipped prior to placement.

Come Visit Us!

We do not have an actual facility. All of our "kids" are in foster homes getting spoiled till they can find their permanent home! This helps us to better learn the personality of each and every dog. We temperament test and health test them prior to placement. If you're interested in adopting one of our wigglebutts, you may e-mail or call us . Placements are done by appointment only.
