The purpose of Heartland Westie Rescue, Inc. is to locate, foster, rehabilitate and place any West Highland White Terrier (Westie) that is without a home. Most important is to take the Westie out of a harmful, dangerous or unwanted situation, whether it be a public animal shelter, a family pet who can no longer stay with that family, or one that has strayed. After the Westie is under the care of Heartland Westie Rescue, Inc, it is vet checked, any and all medical needs are taken care of and when healthy enough, is spayed or neutered. During and immediately after veterinary care, the dog is fostered by volunteers, where it is evaluated as to temperament, ability to interact with other animals, and children. After evaluation and health care, the dog is matched with a new family which has been screened, where it will receive the attention, care, and love we feel this special breed deserves.
Heartland Westie Rescue, Inc., is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. All rescue representatives are volunteers and dedicated to the breed.
Our territory encompasses: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska.
