The UGLY Truth

There are an estimated 30,000 dogs and cats euthanized every year in Oklahoma shelters. Most are put to death simply because there is not enough room or funds to house and care for them until they can be adopted.

This is a crisis.

If we don't come to their aid, many more will NEEDLESSLY suffer and die.

But there is HOPE! Together, we can help stop the hurt.

5 Ways You Can Help

There are 5 main ways you help: Adopt   |   Foster   |   Donate   |   Volunteer   |   Tell

ADOPT
Finding good homes for our rescued animals is our main mission. If you are looking to adopt a new member of the family, please consider Zoi's Animal Rescue first! If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please see the Adopting A Friend section below. (Or click the Adopting Info link on the left.)

If you are not looking to adopt, please consider helping us in these other ways:

FOSTER

Obviously, we need people to adopt the animals we rescue, but did you know that we need foster families just as much? Since we do not have a facility to house all the animals we rescue we rely on foster families to shelter, care for and love them until their forever families come along. Since many of our animals are strays or have been abused, loving, gentle human contact is a must! If you would like to apply to be a foster family, please contact us today.

DONATE
Without the generosity of others, we can't continue helping those animals in need.

We are always in need of donations to help keep the group going. Many of the dogs and cats we rescue come to us sick or injured. For most of the pets that are adopted, the adoption fee doesn't cover our medical and boarding expenses. Please help us continue to help those who can not help themselves. (All donations are tax-deductible, but if you donate cash or in-kind gifts, please request a receipt. If you donate Online or by check, your email or canceled check will serve as your receipt.)

THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS YOU CAN DONATE:

>> ONE-TIME ONLINE DONATION
You can make a one time donation by using the Donate button at the top of the page or below. You can choose to use your credit card or your paypal account. If there is a particular animal or fundraiser that you would like for the donation to go toward, simply click the "Add Instructions..." link and put your comments there.

>> SCHEDULED DONATIONS (New!)
You can now schedule donations to be automatically given to Zoi's each month. Below you will find the "Subscribe" button and the Payment options. You can select $5, $10, $25 or $50. This would be a wonderful way of supporting our mission.

Payment Options

>> DONATE BY MAIL
Of course we still accept donations via check. Just make your check payable to "ZAR" and mail it to: Zoi's Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 2905, Claremore, OK 74018. If there is a particular animal or fundraiser that you would like for the donation to go toward, write that in the memo line.

>> DONATE IN PERSON
If you feel like giving your donation to us in person, please feel free! Just check out Our Events and stop by.

>> IN-KIND GIFTS
In-kind gifts such as PetSmart gift cards, food, used blankets, towels, crates of all kinds, paper towels, and bleach are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

>> MEMBERSHIPS
We also have memberships to Zoi's to help with our operating costs. Memberships are just $25.00 a year. Click here for the form (or just email us and we will send you a membership form to fill out and return to us.) Or you can stop by PetSmart in Owasso on Saturday and fill one out in person. Please partner with us today!!! If you would like to include a check with your membership form, that is fine, or you can make a One-Time Donation of $25 and put "Membership" in the "Add Instructions.." section.

VOLUNTEER
We always are looking for dedicated, dependable, and dog-loving volunteers to help us with our Saturday showings at PetSmart in Owasso and other events. If you are least 18 years old and are interested in volunteering, please contact us today!

TELL
If you believe in what we do, please tell your friends and family about us! Ask them to consider us when adopting a new friend or when looking for a good charitable cause!

ADOPTING A FRIEND

Click Here for Our Adoptable Pet List

DOGS
You can meet a selection of our adoptable dogs nearly every weekend at a location in the Tulsa/Owasso area. Please click here to see a list of our upcoming events.

CATS
We don't have most of our cats listed online, but they are shown at PetSmart in Owasso on most Saturdays and some Sundays. So, stop by PetSmart in Owasso and check them out!

PRIVATE MEETINGS
An actual shelter is a dream of ours that we will keep chasing! For now, if you can't come to PetSmart during our Saturday showings you can call to make an appointment for a private meeting with your new best friend! Since most of our animals are fostered or boarded, we will have to coordinate with the foster or boarding facility's schedule.

ADOPTION PROCESS
All animals are adopted out on a first come, first serve basis. However, because the animal's welfare is our utmost concern, we do require each potential adopter to complete an adoption application prior to an adoption being approved. *Please note: Filling out an application does not guarantee approval and we reserve the right to deny any application for ANY reason.*

Once the adoption application is approved and the adoption fee is paid, you can take your new family member home!

Our adoption fees* are $100.00 for dogs, which includes all shots, spay/neuter, fecal and heart worm test. The fee for cats is $65.00 which includes all shots, spay/neuter, and feline leukemia test.

*Please keep in mind that our adoption fees do not cover the overall cost of caring for the animals we rescue. Therefore, if you can give anything above and beyond the adoption fee, we would greatly appreciate it!

Important Note About Breeds
We do our best to try to figure out what the breed(s) are of the animals in our rescue. However, because many of the animals are strays, we simply have no way of knowing for sure. Therefore, we make no guarantee as to the breed(s) of any of our animals.

ABOUT US

In October of 2003, we rescued 2 special pups, a brother and sister. They were about 6 weeks old and nearly hairless as they had a form of mange. The female had a birth defect which had made her left front leg draw up. Her right front leg isn't exactly normal either. We named her Zoi, which in Greek means "life".

Zoi taught us many things as we watched her grow. She doesn't know she is labeled unadoptable due to not being perfect. She runs, plays, steals food, loves, kisses, jumps up, just like all the other dogs around her. She has a strong, iron will and remarkable determination. (Which are the very traits you need when you do animal rescue! No matter how difficult it gets, you can't give up!)

We named our rescue group in honor of her. Zoi is our mascot and our mentor and because of her, we have become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to giving life to the abandoned and unwanted.

Watch your dog... you just might learn something!

ADOPT A LESS ADOPTABLE PET

There are several animals in our rescue who have been overlooked for a variety of reasons. We considered these animals "Less Adoptable" because of this. Some of them have special needs and/or are older animals. Please take a few minutes to learn more about these animals who are just hoping to find their forever family.

Tator Tot
Tator is a bassett mix who experienced a severe case of bloat and then during surgery suffered a stroke. Although he has mostly recovered, his balance is still a little off. Tator is a loving boy who would really like to be a lap dog, but needs a home without children or other animals.

To learn more about Tator Tot, please click here. If you would like to meet Tator Tot, please email us today!

SPECIAL NEEDS

This is where you will find a list of our current special needs. Any help with these is much appreciated!

LITTLE YOGI

Yogi is a 1 year old Chihuahua who was dropped off at a local shelter with a homemade splint on his front leg. The shelter apparently never checked under the splint or they would have seen that Yogi had a broken leg and a bad infection. Zoi's took him in and now he is getting treatment for his injuries. Although his leg seems to be healing a little, there is still a chance he might have to have the leg removed. Amputation is always a last resort, but thankfully most animals bounce back quickly and can live normal lives.

Will you please consider making a donation today towards Yogi's fund? If you would like to, please click here to see your donation options. If you are going to making a payment online, please put "Yogi" in the "Instructions" section. If you are going to pay via check, please put "Yogi" in the memo line.

Although Yogi still has a ways to go before he is ready for adoption, we have big hopes for this little guy!

RESOURCES

TAKING IN AN ANIMAL

Many people contact us each week asking for help with finding an animal a home. Some of the animals are strays, unwanted litters, and some are surrendered due to an unforeseeable event in the owner's life. Because of the poor economy, more and more animals are being outright abandoned by their owners-left to fend for themselves in their own backyards. To make matters worse, the economy is causing fewer people to adopt animals.

This is why we are currently UNABLE to take in any more animals from those looking to find homes for their own animals or for those they have found abandoned or wandering. Our mission is to help animals in need, but our rescue can only support a certain number of animals - and we have unfortunately reached our limit.

Helpful Information Sheet
However, because we care so much about the welfare of animals, we still would like to offer help to those looking to rehome an animal. Therefore, we have put together a information sheet to give you ideas on how to find your animal a good home. Please click here for the information. (The sheet is in a PDF format, so if you do not have Adobe Reader, please click the "Get Adobe" button above.)

We hope that this information will be useful to you in your efforts.
