About Us
Visit us at Mingle with our Mutts on the first and third Sundays of each month at the Franklin County Dog Shelter (behind the Menard's store on Morse Road) in Columbus, from noon to two p.m.
Please email the prison coordinator at Dee.Dailey@odrc.state.oh.us to find out more about adopting a trained prison dog! Our dog visits are made by appointment ONLY.
We are Southeastern Correctional Institution, a minimum security male prison in Lancaster, Ohio. We take rescued dogs who have been spayed or neutered and are UTD on all shots, and assign them to inmate handlers who then train them in basic obedience. After four to eight weeks, the dogs are ready for adoption into loving homes. Our dogs are from Saving Pets One at a Time (Morgan County, Ohio), Fairfield Area Humane Society (Lancaster), Second Chance Companions (Fairfield County), Perry County Humane Society, and some of the dogs are "our" rescues. We do not take dogs from private parties; they must go through one of the rescue groups we work with. Please do NOT call us to surrender a dog, we will not take it.
Email the coordinator at Dee.Dailey@odrc.state.oh.us to make an appointment.
