Our Featured Pooches...
Meet Tyson
Tyson is a gorgeous 1.5 yr old Olde English Bulldogge who was given to us by his owners who just didnt want him anymore. He was put outside when he got "too big" for the house. He is well behaved but listens to males more often than females. He is fine with other dogs as long as they are balanced but would prefer having his own family all to himself. Please call to set up a time to meet this handsome boy!!
Meet Sophie
Poor Sophie lived in a yard alone for the first year of her life. If you look into her eyes you can see she just wants a gentle loving inside home with healthy food. She was infested with hookworms, tapeworms, fleas, and had kennel cough when we got her. She was taken to our vet and was given flea meds and dewormed. She had never been in a house and was scared to death of everything and everyone but now is doing much better. The last 5 inches of her tail was bloody and bald but that too has healed but the hair is slowly growing back. She has known nothing but fear, hunger, and violent uncaring hands until we got her. She was sitting at a horrible little rual pound that put her outside in a kennel with no protection from the rain or sun. She was seriously emaciated and was so fearful of everything. We worried she might not recover. She is doing great with us though! She is good withother dogs, and is good with kids as well. She is learning the world isnt what it used to be. If you have a heart of gold this little one needs you to share it with her. She is a wonderful little soul who soaks up every bit of love she gets now. She melts into your arms when petting and loves gentle hugs and smooches on the muzzle. She needs a loving, patient, gentle home. She has a huge underbite and big soulfull eyes that seem to show her beautiful soul. Please call to set up a time to meet this gentle sweetie.
Meet Jojo
Jojo is a sweet gentle boy who has had a very tough life. He was used for bait in a dog fight or two and he bears the scars of it from head to toe. He is missing part of his bottom jaw but you cant tell by looking at him. His ribs were broken in 2 places but healed from that as well. The things this poor boy has been through is unimaginable. The pain and suffering this boy has seen in his young life already is so sad. He is gentle with kids and loves everyone. He likes to do just about anything and has a good attitude about it all. He loves to be petted and snuggle on the couch or just meander around aimlessly. His favorite thing to do is squirm and snuggle on the super-sized bean bag in my sons room or sit in a lap and be rubbed on his belly. He doesnt do well with other dogs anymore. He seems to want to be friends with them but he is afraid sometimes. He would need a fenced in yard and a safe, loving, and understanding family. Please give us a call if youd like to meet this gentle boy.
Meet Pablo
Pablo is a 2 year old Bordeaux (a French mastiff) who was turned in by his owner who was being sent to prison. Pablo is a great guy and very
loved by everyone he meets. He has been diagnosed by a vet with a neurological
disorder called "wobblers." This syndrome is something that he is going to have
to deal with the rest of his life, but our vet does not feel that he is in pain
or in need of any surgery or medication right now. The disorder has the
potential to get worse as he gets older, but really his only symptoms right now
are that he "wobbles" when he walks and runs and sometimes his legs "buckle"
under him. He basically just looks a little "sloppy" or "goofy" when he runs :)
He would do best as the only dog in the home, as he has had some aggression
issues with other dogs, but
NOT with people. For that reason, we will ONLY adopt him out to a home where he
can be the only dog. We want to see this handsome fella in a safe, secure home
where he will be showered with the love and attention that he deserves! He would
make a great family dog!
Meet Duchess
Duchess needs a loving home. Her family is being forced to give her up or move out of their home. They love her and want her to go to a home who will love her as they have. She is good with kids and loves to play and snuggle with them. She was given to them as a tiny baby and has grown up with them and has very good manners. She still has allot of puppy in her and loves to play and romp around. She loves to chew on bones or Nylabones and listens very well. If you are looking for a loving friend to lay around with and watch tv, or help you with your sandwich, this little lady will help you out! Please call us at 937.267.0002 or email us at ahbullies@gmail.com!!
Who We Are
Almost Home Bullies is a small rescue group of volunteer foster homes dedicated to rescue and rehabilitation of abused/neglected/unwanted dogs/puppies. (Mostly bully breeds: Bulldog Breeds, Pit Bull Breeds, Mastiff Breeds, and any mixes of those.)Most of our rescues are from chains or pens but we also pull dogs from Ohios worst gassing pounds. We also educate owners, and the public, on bully breeds, Breed Specific Legislation, and freeing chained/penned dogs, or at least improving their living conditions. In addition to that, we provide educational material about various other important animal issues such as spay/nueter, wearing fur, circuses, peting zoos, and vegetarian literature. We specialize in dogs but we respect all living creatures and encourage others to do the same by education and setting a good example!
For more information on BULLY BREEDS please visit:

For more information on BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION Please visit:
pbrc.net
badrap.org
We work hard locally to educate bully breed owners and speak out against Breed Specific Legislation. It is ignorant to judge a whole breed of dogs because a few have been abused/mistreated/inbred and exploited by the owners/media/and politicians. Irresponsible owners should be held fully accountable for the actions of ANY and ALL breeds.

Or you are welcome to give us a call. We work in the Dayton area. If you see a dog in need outside our area please go to Dogs Deserve Better website and find your closest Area Representative! Dont give up on the dog. Be his/her voice!!
It is cruel and inhumane to leave a dog alone, hungry, unexercized, and uncared for, chained or penned. These dogs eat, defecate, and sleep in the same small area for YEARS. Laying in the mud, snow, and/or ice ... Chained on a short lead or closed up in a small pen, and many times BOTH, they suffer without love, exercise, interaction, and usually not enough food. They suffer for years....many die that way. Most have embedded collars. Chaining and/or penning an animal is NOT humane and should not be legal!
Dont just drive by and think it is sad, day after day...DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! Help that dog!!! Offer to walk their dog or bring it food/a better doghouse..etc... or call us (in Dayton) and we will help!! (Again, if you are outside Dayton please go to DogsDeserve Better.org) They have many wonderful volunteers all over the US willing to help!!

Please Support our Work at Almost Home
Your donations save lives! They will fund community education and action programs, provide housetraining tips and tools for dogs so that they may live in the home, and fences so that they may safely go outside (when funding permits). We rescue and foster chained dogs that are given up by the owner and find a loving new home for them. We spay/neuter all rescues, as well as deworm and immunize. Our mission is to continually put the dog's welfare above all else, and strive to in any way possible make his/her life better.
The goals of Almost Home Bullies comprise the following goals: advocate for all bully breed dogs (American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Boxers, Dogo Argentinos, all Mastiffs, all Bulldog breeds, and American Pit Bull Terriers): advocate for all dogs living chained or penned outside; educate society to evolve to a higher ethical and moral standard for the treatment of dogs living under these conditions; meet with owners of dogs chained outside discuss other options available to them; fence yards to improve the quality of life for these dogs; foster and find new homes for dogs whose owners wish a better life for them: educate the public about many other animal issues such as: vegetarianism, fur farms, factory farms, petting zoos, and dogfighting.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE
Email us so we can send you an ADOPTION APPLICATION. After review we will contact you and, if approved, schedule a MEETING, and HOME VISIT. It usually doesn’t take more than a day or two to process the application once it is received. We have a varying adoption fee depending on the desired dog. Usually it is 175$ for a pups under 6 months, 200$-250$ for over 6 months. Pure breeds and any of the bully breeds (American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Boxers, Dogo Argentinos, Bull Terriers, and all Mastiffs) vary but are usually 250$. It takes about 175$ to fully vet one animal with basic vetting but many times our rescues come in with more problems than simple vetting.
***All dogs must be fully vetted PRIOR to adoption. We NEVER adopt out any dogs that are not spayed/nutered, Rabies vaccinated, DHLLP Vaccinated, and microchipped. (The only exception to that is if they are under 4 months, too young, and we have a contract that is legally binding that our approved homes sign. We only make these exceptions if we are 100% that the pup will be altered under the care of the new home)! It is irresponsible to do otherwise. We are funded exclusively by donations so unless we have donations in to cover the vetting in full, we can not adopt out that particular dog until it is done. We can, however, accept the adoption donation prior to adoption and hold the dog to finish vetting.
ADOPTION APPLICATION
We are very flexible with introducing our rescue to potential permanant homes as WE ARE RUN BY FOSTER HOMES ONLY. We try to match up the right dog for the right family/lifestyle so sometimes the dog you want may not be the right one for your home. We want to ensure every dog is happy and every member of the family is happy with the dog. Adopting a rescue dog is a lifelong commitment but we understand that sometimes things may happen. We will always take any adopted dog back for any reason, at any time, during its life here at Almost Home Bullies. This is not the same for all rescues. We want it to work and we want everyone to be happy! If you have adopted a dog and are having problems, CALL US! We will try to help or guide you in the direction of someone that we know can help!
~WE NEED FOSTER HOMES!!!!!!~
Foster dogs come with dog food, leash, collar, tags, and a training crate. Our foster families provide training, love, daily walks, socialization (if recommended), and are responsible for driving our rescue to the vet for appointments. (This can be done on your schedule or if you dont have a car we can pick the dog up for his/her appointments!) Please open your home to a rescue dog as a foster home! If you are a stay at home mom or retired it is fun and it helps a rescue in need! Email ahbullies@gmail.com to find out how you can help a dog in need!!!
~VOLUNTEER WITH US!~
We have many needs as a volunteer: walking, soliciting donations, creating fliers, talking to people about their chained dogs, tabling at events, training..etc.. Email ahbullies@gmail.com to find out how you can help a dog in need!
VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
Please Help Fund our Organization
We need your help! Dogs we rescue from chains and gassing or heartstick pounds have no vetting and rarely come out of those situations in good health. 90% of the time the dogs are seriously ill or in very poor health when we get them. We need donations to keep bringing these dogs to the vet and also to help improve the living conditions of the dogs who are still living on chains. We do come across some owners who do not want to give up ownership of the dogs but thankfully do accept better doghouses, straw bedding, a fence/pen, walking, vetting, other help, and we cant do that alone so donate today!! Email us to donate or call your donation in to our vet for vetting!!
