STEP 1: Application
Individuals wishing to adopt a pet from the Lake Humane Society must complete an application and provide a valid form of idenification. You must be 18 years of age or have a parent or legal guardian present to sign the adoption forms.
STEP 2: Consultation
When the application has been completed a staff member will review it with you and answer any questions you may have. The purpose of the application is to assure that you have made the appropriate selection of pet for your particular lifestyle and to be certain that you understand our requirements regarding the animal. Based on our guidelines, we reserve the right to place our animals only in homes that are suitable for the needs of the animal.
STEP 3: The Adoption
Once your application has been approved a staff member will begin the paperwork. In order that the transition is a smooth one for both you and the pet, you will receive instructions as to the immediate and future needs of your new pet, as well as the veterinary needs of the animal.
STEP 4: Spay/Neuter
Each year approximately 12 million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are euthanized because there are not nearly enough homes available. LHS is commited to reducing the overpopulation of catsa nd dogs thru a Spay/Neuter program. All animals adopted from LHS have already been spayed/neutered.

All pets adopted from LHS receive their first vet exam FREE from participating veterinary hospitals. Please take your pet in within one week from the date of the adoption. You will be responsible for all other costs. All pets adopted from LHS will also reciece ONE MONTH of Pet Insurance at NO addition cost.
