CANINE CRUSADERS runs the Mahoning County Pound Sponsorship Program. Because the adoption fee is so high at this pound something needed to be done to encourage rescues to pull dogs. YOUR DONATION IS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!
Your generous donation of $50 will sponsor a dog's pull fee (adoption fee). This fee includes: Unfortunately, sponsoring a dog does not guarantee that he/she will not be euthanized. Sadly, that is our of our control. However, it does greatly increase the chance of the dog getting rescued by lowering the overall cost for a rescue organization to pull a dog. Our sponsorship program has been very successful since we began several years ago.
To ensure the safety & well being of these wonderful dogs, sponsorship incentive applies only to approved rescue organzations. If a dog is adopted by the public or sadly, euthanized, sponsorship will roll to another dog in need (your choice if you would like). You can sponsor a dog by clicking on the "DONATE" button Please type in the ID# of the dog you wish to sponsor (if applicable) in the comment box during the donation process. I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...
The cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.
And I was angry.
"God", I said, "This is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and said softly,
"I have done something. I created YOU!"

The dogs are kept in small cages, and they are DEPENDING on volunteers
to take them outside to relieve themselves, get a little exercise,
and last but not least some much deserved LOVE!
Some dogs have never had a kind word ever said to them or a gentle hand to pet them.
I KNOW EVERYONES LIFE IS BUSY, but please make a commitment to these poor souls....
even if only once a week or once a month.

GLORIA, another dedicated dog walker doesn't let her CANE get in the way
of giving the pound dogs some much needed LOVE!
Where there is a WILL.....there is a WAY! 
Lassie, Cleo, Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue.
We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog.
We get the leftovers.
Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained," and badly treated.
Most Rescue dogs have had it.
They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another.
They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company.
They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement.
They're scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up.
But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog.
We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings.
Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage.
They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion.
So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything.
Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit.
For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible.
I can promise you this...

RESCUES WELCOME!
WE ARE IN GREAT NEED OF RESCUES TO TAKE SPONSORED POUND DOGS
If you are a rescue applying for the sponsorship incentive,
we ask that you PLEASE email your request PRIOR to pulling dog(s),
Rescue organizations must be pre-approved for sponsorship incentive. Canine Crusaders will only pay the pull fee directly to Mahoning Pound (sorry, at this time no reimbursements can be made directly to rescues). Thanks!
TRANSPORTERS NEEDED WEEKLY!
We are also in great need of volunteer transporters to get 1 or more dogs to their rescued destinations.
Generally transports are 1-2 hrs. one way.
If you can assist us...even if only once a month, we can sure use the help!
OUR ADOPTION FEES:
All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, given 1st shots, dewormed and flea/tick treatment.
We do charge an adoption fee of $130.00
This allows us to continue our mission to save as many of these poor pooches as possible.
Remember, every dog adopted or rescued opens up another space
for a dog desperately waiting to be saved from DEATH ROW at the pound!

"KAHULA" was found by Keith & John who work at the pound. They got a call that a puppy was walking by the side of the road with the "skin off the paw". After searching a while...not giving up... they finally found the 2-3 month old pup with his foot torn off, dangling only by the skin. Canine Crusaders immediately took him to Crago's Vet Clinic where leg amputation was performed the very next day!

After Canine Crusaders had his DEEPLY EMBEDDED COLLAR removed by a local Vet,
this sweety (#1101) was taken in by "All Dogs Heaven" Rescue
