News

News ***Are you 18 or older and love farm animals? We can always use more volunteers to help with the hands-on care of the animals, transporting animals, attending special events, and with fundraising. Happy Trails is an all volunteer organization--there is no paid staff. So, as you might guess, we can use all the help we can get. If you're interested, call Sue, our volunteer coordinator, at 330-388-2106. *** Happy Trails is pleased to announce our new personal guided tour program. Because we are an all volunteer facility, it simply is not possible for us to accommodate visitors on an unscheduled, drop in basis. However, we do love to show off the Sanctuary and all the wonderful animals. For a donation of $50 you can arrange to have a personally guided tour of Happy Trails for a group up to 6 people. Because most of our volunteers work during the week, most tours will be scheduled on the weekends. If you're interested in scheduling a tour, call Happy Trails (330 296 5914) and we'll do our best to work with your schedule. On Monday night, April 20, 2009, Happy Trails helped to rescue 15 horses from a deplorable situation. They are all severely malnourished and have major hoof issues. These poor horses will need extensive medical and farrier care. Any and all donations toward their care would be greatly appreciated. Checks can be made payable to Happy Trails and mailed to 5623 New Milford Rd., Ravenna OH 44266.

Who We Are

Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, Inc. is a non-profit (501 c3) organization that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes abused, abandoned and neglected farm animals such as horses, ponies, pigs, hogs, chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, and cattle. We do not handle domestic animals such as dogs, cats or rabbits. Also, WE DO NOT ACCEPT OWNER SURRENDERS--it is the owner's responsibility to find their pet a new home if they no longer want to keep it. Our animals come from abuse and/or neglect situations when we are contacted by a humane officer. We currently have many, many wonderful pasture pal horses, who because of past injuries or illnesses cannot be ridden but are superb companions to other horses and people. We provide the rescued animals with medical care, clean and safe housing, and as much TLC as possible. We work in cooperation with a variety of other rescue groups, both local and out-of-state, to network and help find homes for all these wonderful animals. Because the feeding and medical care of all the animals can be expensive, we welcome any and all donations. And because we are a 501(c)(3), all donations are tax deductible. Click on the Adoptable Animals to see the great animals we currently have available. And check out our home page, www.happytrailsfarm.org, for more details on the animals and the sanctuary.

Adopting a friend

Our adoptions are a process that includes an application, reference checks and a home visit. You can download the application by going to www.happytrailsfarm.org, click on the Printable Forms button on the left and then print the Animal Adoption Application. If you're interested in adopting a horse, you will also have to print and complete the Horse Adoption Application. If you want to meet the animal first, call the Sanctuary at 330-296-5914 to make an appointment to come see him/her. Because we are an all volunteer organization we do not have enough people at this time to have general open hours. Please be patient, it may take a couple days for someone to return your call. Each animal has an adoption fee and a home visit is necessary. These animals have been through a lot and we want to be sure that their next home is their forever home. Also, every adopter must sign a contract agreeing that, if circumstances change and they can no longer keep the animal, he/she will be returned to Happy Trails. We love our animals and want the best for them.

Come Visit Us!

Happy Trails does not have general open hours because we are run by volunteers--not paid staff. However, we now have a personal tour program you can take advantage of. For only a $50 donation, we will give you and a group up to six people an hour tour of the Sanctuary. If you would like to come down, call the Sanctuary to set up an appointment, 330-296-5914, and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule. The Sanctuary is located just off Route 44 in Ravenna.
