FEATURED DOG!

Jerry

Jerry is a darling boy with lots of love to give. His happiest moments are the ones he gets to spend with you. When you pet him, he will lean up against you trying to get the most out of each touch. He will stand patiently by your side because your company is the most important thing to him. At 7 years old, Jerry will surprise you with his playful demeanor. He loves to chase tennis balls and will bring them back to you every time. When you want to play, all you have to do is say "Jerry, where is your ball." and he will hunt it down. This goofball also loves to ride in the car. He likes to visit new places and will hop eagerly into your vehicle if you offer him a ride. Jerry likes calmer dogs who won't hog all of your attention! You won't ever be lonely with this faith companion at your side. Jerry is happy to have his whole world revolve around you. Collies love families who have time to spend with them. Jerry qualifies for our "Senior for Seniors" program. If you are 60 years of age or older, on Wednesdays you can adopt any cat or dog who is 5 years of age or older and we will waive their adoption fee.

Jerry has been classified as a Goofball - I'm a fun-loving, happy-all-the-time, glass-is-half-full kind of dog looking for someone who loves to laugh and play around. Must have a great sense of humor and a bunch of tennis balls.

All animals from the Toledo Area Humane Society are spayed or neutered, given a health exam by a licensed vet, current on their vaccinations, evaluated for temperament and michrochipped.

Nobody knows how much time they will have on this earth. Young or old our existence is left in the hands of fate. But one thing remains true. We all desire to be loved while we are here and remembered when we are gone.

FEATURED DOG!

BONO

My name is Bono. Someone once told me that I was named after someone famous. I'm not sure if that is true. I just remember when I was a little pup I would have a great time chewing on these leather things that smelled like feet. Then my mommy would rush in yelling BO...NO! So maybe I'm named after the person that invented that chew toy.

Nowadays I have traded in my chewies and prefer to spend my time in the beautiful outdoors. I like to lounge in the sun and plan in the large grassy yard. Since I am a mature dog my needs are quite simple. Just a little love and tenderness will put a smile on this old face. I don't need a big fancy house or a private dog walker. If you invite me into your home my life will be complete, because...Hey!...I got you babe!

Bono qualifies for our "Senior for Seniors" program. If you are 60 years of age or older, on Wednesdays you can adopt any cat or dog who is 5 years of age or older and we will waive their adoption fee.

Bono has been classified as a Busy Bee – “I’m a naturally playful, curious, and trusting canine. Take me for big walks every day: give me something to do. I’m a dog on a mission to please you and myself.”

FEATURED CAT!

Kacey

Kacey is an 8-month-old black female kitty. An old injury to her left eye has caused some scaring which gives her eye an abnormal appearance. She can see out of it but probably not very well. Kacey doesn't let being handicapped slow her down. She is always affectionate and very playful. She eagerly greets visitors and begs for attention. She is a great lap cat as you can see from her picture. She would love to find a forever home where she can play all day and then spend the evening curled up next to you taking a nap.

Secret Admirer - "When it comes to relationships, I'm very level-headed. I don't leap in paws first, if you know what I mean. But give me a little time, and I'll shower you with purrs, head-butts, and plenty of lap time. In the meantime, you may not see a lot of me, but I'll be thinking a lot of you!"

This beautiful feline hopes to find a family of her own and the staff at the Toledo Area Humane Society wants to make this dream a reality. You can be part of the solution by adopting this cuddly cutie at a special adoption rate. You can give this precious feline a home for only $50.00. That's 1/2 off of our normal adoption fee.

All animals from the Toledo Area Humane Society are spayed or neutered, given a health exam by a licensed vet, current on their vaccinations, evaluated for temperament and microchipped.

Better in Pairs Special

Adopt one cat or kitten at regular price and get the second one for half price. Many cats have reduced adoption fees.

Who We Are

The Toledo Area Humane Society, a private, non-profit organization, is the third oldest Humane Society in the U.S., founded in 1884 in order to be a "voice for the voiceless". Our mission is to provide community leadership focused on relieving the suffering of, preventing cruelty to, and providing for the humane treatment of animals. Our goal is to create an educated and caring community free of animal neglect and cruelty, and to prevent the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals.

Toledo Area Humane Society places thousands of animals in loving, permanent homes each year. All animals receive a health exam, a micro-chip, vaccinations, testing for feline leukemia or heartworm, are wormed, spayed, or neutered and are temperament tested. Our adoption counselors are trained to help find the companion animal best suited to the personality and lifestyle of each potential adopter.
